"no..please..."
haruto immediately woke up when he heard whimpering coming from his side. he scratched his eyes groggily and opened the lamp on the bed side table to see things around him clearly.
he turned his head over to y/n to check if she was the one who was making the noise and sure enough, she was crying while whispering incoherent words in her sleep.
"y/n?" he tapped y/n's shoulder with a hoarse voice.
y/n slowly opened her eyes and instantly sat straight on her bed with red, teary eyes. haruto worriedly looked at her, "are you okay?"
she nodded as she wiped the tears that were escaping from her eye. she suddenly engulfed him to a hug which startled him but he instantly embraced her back while patting her back gently.
she took a deep breathe, "i had a bad dream," she said with a shaky voice. haruto broke the hug first and looked at her with a small smile on his lips while stroking the back of her palm.
"do you want to talk about it?" he asked her carefully but she shooked her head. he nodded, respecting her decision. "always remember i'm here for you always, okay?" she smiled, feeling a lot better with her boyfriend's words of comfort.
"i love you," she genuinely told him. he chuckled and ruffled her hair a little making her frown, "i know you do. now, let's sleep," she snickered and laid herself comfortably on their shared bed.
he pulled the blankets closer to her and made sure it was fully covering her body in order for her to not get cold.
"close your eyes and fall back to sleep. i'll sleep after seeing you rest," her eyebrows furrowed with his words, "no. you're sleeping now," she disagreed.
"don't worry about me. it's okay, now close your eyes or else i'm not buying ice cream tomorrow,"
she rolled her eyes, "fine whatever," she quickly leaned in and kissed his cheek, "goodnight, ruto," she grinned before closing her eyes to sleep.
"goodnight," he said with a calm voice despite his cheeks furiosly blushing as he watch her quietly drift to sleep.
after 5 minutes, he heard faint snores coming from her making his lips crease up to a smile.
"goodnight love," he whispered softly and leaned to kiss the top of her head.
he checked on her for the last time before turning the lamp off and got ready to sleep peacefully with her by his side.
