I have recently learned of a great injustice to our world. It's very sad. But not enough people know about Tolkien week! I myself only found out about it a few weeks ago. So here's some info and ideas on how to celebrate this amazing author:
Tolkien week is always on the calendar week of September 22, which is Bilbo and Frodo's birthday.
1. Read a new Tolkien book. It doesn't have to be about Middle Earth!
2. Watch extended editions of everything, just be sure to watch the first half of Fellowship of the ring on September 22, as that has the big birthday celebration. Don't miss the party!
3. Do you have some Middle Earth themed jewelry? Wear it! Remember, almost every race is obsessed with sparkly or shiny things!
4. Listen to some Middle Earth music. And I'm not talking about the soundtracks! J.R.R.Tolkien himself wrote many songs and poems, and they're quite good!
5. Speak in one of Tolkien's languages.
Feeling Hobbitish? Try Westron.
Want to be a Dwarf? Try Khazdul.
If your a Dwarf who's mute of otherwise can't speak, try your hand at Iglishmêk.
If you want to speak like an Elf, I would suggest Sindarin, as it's the most commonly used (even the Gondorians used it) than others.
But of course Quenya is good too...
