The story is about Gerard being a prince in Belleville. He's a modern day royalty and Frank is one of the guards in the castle and I think Gerard's body guard too but I'm not so sure.
The story had a lot of potential. It seemed really interesting when I read the description and it was suggested to me by someone so I thought it would be really good.... Well it wasn't.
First off, the descriptions were not detailed at all and the entire story was written in a very choppy fan fiction writing style of 'he went there and did that.' and the storyline wasn't moving fluidly at all. Secondly, everything happened suuuuper fast. In chapter 1 we are told Gerard is sleeping around a lot and has never had an actual relationship. In chapter 2 him and Frank meet for the first time ever. By chapter 5 they're already a couple. That weirded me out a lot because we establish early on that Gerard is all about one night stands but he just magically changes when he meets Frank? Where's the realism in that? At the same time, many scenes were super random and threw me off while there was also no leading up to events. Important parts of the story had literally no leading up to them or any foreshadowing at all while the scenes themselves were very short and boring. For example, the climax of the story(the main serious event) was about Gerard and Lynz getting blackmailed and Frank getting captured by the blackmailer who threatens to kill him. I should've felt anxious or nervous for the whole thing because at least one of the main characters was gonna get killed, but I wasn't. I felt nothing at all. I was just bored. Anyway, the whole blackmailing thing lasted for about half a chapter and after that everything was resolved and everyone was happy again. And Frank and Gerard had sex right after. Like seriously, he's about to get killed, apparently both of them are crying and filled with anxiety and the first thing they feel like doing is fuck? There was another scene where something similar happened. Mikey and Gerard's dad was being homophobic and apparently he tried to hit Mikey (even though that scene is not in the book at all, just mentions of it) and their mom takes their dad outside of the room and comes back 10 minutes later to tell them that their dad got arrested and would be facing jail time????? Firstly, why wasn't that a part of the storyline? It seems extremely important and also, no one gets arrested within 10 minutes from inside of their house. Even if their mom called the cops, it wouldn't take 10 minutes and no evidence to arrest him. It really annoys me when stories have no realism at all in them because without it they feel like a story for children. And the issues don't end there because even the fluffy scenes felt forced and out of place because they were very random. Another problem that seems minor compared to the rest is that there were some extreme time skips. There were time skips that would skip a few days and we just had to figure out where we were in the story.
Overall, there were no parts where I felt anything other than boredom and the story couldn't end fast enough, even though it wasn't too long to begin with. I would've stopped reading if it wasn't a story someone recommended to me.You could read it if you'd like in order to get your own opinions on it. I'm sure there are people who like it, the story had a lot of positive comments too. It is on wattpad.
