I Think I Like It (new version)

I used to looooooove this story. It was definitely on my top10 list of fan fics.
In case you haven't heard of the fic, it's a Gerard!teacher/Frank!student fic. It's quite controversial because in the original Gerard was 38 and Frank  was 17, which, I must admit, was pretty weird.
In this new version though, Gerard is 25 and that was a very pleasant change in the story. Made me feel less weird about it.
So the story was edited and re-uploaded by the author and I have a few problems with this version of it. First of all, in the beginning the book starts with Frank from the futute talking about the story and that made me cringe kind of, not to mention that it felt way too forced and out of place. It reminded me a lot of the beginning and ending scenes from Titanic, and that's not really a compliment because I don't like that movie haha. The story kept changing between present and past tenses which made it all the more confusing and annoying to read.
The editing seemed to be very rushed and there were a ton of mistakes throughout the story. There were moments where Gerard would be called 'old' or 'middle aged' or 'almost fourty' while being 25 and, having read the story before, it wasn't confusing for me but it definitely will be confusing for first time readers.
Many, unimportant for the plot, scenes from the original book were deleted in this one and that's fine but those scenes were mentioned in later chapters and again, if a first time reader reads that, it will be hella confusing since they won't know wtf the author is talking about. Because of the deleted scenes, the chapters were smaller and therefore, the story was too but still it felt like they were never ending. With less scenes adding to the story, it was a bit boring.
On the same note, some important scenes were replaced by other milder scenes and again, that would've been fine if the reactions of the characters were changed too.
(TW:r*pe) In the original  book there is a sexual assault scene where Bert is the bad guy. The characters reacting to that scene had absolutely normal reactions and it all fit together very well.(end of tw)
In this version, that scene is replaced by a beating up scene, where Bert is once again the bad guy. The reactions of the characters this time though were way too overdramatic and felt forced since they were barely changed at all. The chapter seemed a lot more like a fan fiction because of the dramatic reactions. Idk why the author would change that scene and not the follow ups of it. They have every right to do so, obviously, but the chapter ended up being just a bit of a mess.
Reading the new version of the fic, I held the tiniest bit of hope that the ending would be different. I didn't expect a happy ending since the story is under the 'sad ending' tag but ever since I read the story for the first time I've wanted to read a chapter about Gerard also doing well in his life with his career etc just to ease the pain of the last chapter and the epilogue. Thankfully the very last chapter was deleted and I say thankfully because that was the most heartbreaking chapters in the histiry of fanfics and it broke me every damn time I read the fic.
Anyway the fic is still painful but I still loved it except for the things I mentioned. I'll probably go back in like a month to re-read it because I enjoy torturing myself like that.

(update: I ended up accidentally finding the last chapter i was talking about separate from the rest of the fic and lemme tell ya, that shit hurted. It was way more hurtful than last time I read it and I don't even know how tf that's possible.)
