Book one:Vanilla on my hands

Smut:uhhh tons of it. You should most definitely not read this series if you don't like smut.

Frank is just an inquisitive young adult, with a penchant for politics, and a boyfriend in the loop. Gerard Way is just a congressman with a bright suit and even brighter hair. Frank just can't get enough of the older man and the way he walks, talks, and glances. And when Gerard finally lets Frank in, it unleashes something in both of them that neither would have expected, in ways that neither counted on. But it's all a secret now because, of course, Gerard's a very important man and, of course... Frank's just a kid.

It's time to get hot and steamy. This series is 18+ ONLY. I am serious.
Now that we got that out of the way, let's start. This book was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad she told me to read it because turns out, I am obsessed with it. This is not your typical loving relationship. Yeah, it is loving but it's also BDSM and that's what makes it so interesting. And please, don't think that I mean some 50 shades of grey BDSM type of shit. The author has made it extremely clear how much they despise those films. This is a *real* BDSM book.
Are you interested in learning about the lifestyle? Are you into that type of lifestyle and struggle to find good books to read about it? Do you want some extremely hot smut and the best aftercare you can imagine? Do you love consent and veeeeery intense sex scenes? Do you want to find out if you might enjoy a specific kink or fetish and get thoroughly informed about them? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this book is for you.
Now as for the storyline, I absolutely loved it. For the first few chapters it made me angry because Frank was in a toxic relationship and I wanted to punch the asshole in the face but that changed soon enough for the better.
The writing style, in my opinion, improved a lot as the story progressed and I really appreciated that, although it was good to begin with.
Something I found interesting is how the author changed the characters' vocabulary as the story progressed to show the character development they were going through. It was so gradual and well calculated, I almost missed it because it just felt natural like that.
The author has obviously put a lot of effort and research to write this book (although to me that became more obvious in the second book but I'll talk about that later). I remember one of the first dialogues Frank and Gerard had was about politics and, personally I understand absolutely nothing when it comes to politics, but the conversation was very proffessional and I could probably imagine reading it in a professional real life magazine or something. Idk if the author has a love for politics and that's why they knew what to write but regardless, I appreciated the effort.
An important thing that's missing in both fan fics and physical books is accurate representation of minorities. Well. It's not missing here. There's lgbtq+ representation, representation of disabilities and more. I find that to be extremely important. It also goes to show that no matter what your situation is, you can still participate in this lifestyle just like everyone else which is also very nice and encouraging.

Overall, I loved this book and the author is releasing a physical copy soon so you bet your ass imma get it.

Book two:Vanilla at their feet

Smut:still tons of it. More that the first book, actually, which is impressive.

After Frank calls his safeword on their relationship, he's moved out to clear his head, and left Gerard all by himself. And after an incident of regret and clear-headed realization, all Frank wants is to be back with his cold-façade politician- his Dominant. But does Gerard take back his flaky submissive? Does Frank get his second chance to delve back into the dark and twisted lifestyle Gerard had plunged him in headfirst?

Let's goooo book two! In case my thoughts on the first book hadn't convinced you enough, here we are with me gushing about how I love this series some more until I convince you to read it.
Again, this is very much an 18+ only book. I mean, I know y'all underage people won't really care about that. We're on wattpad. I didn't care about 18+ warnings either when I first joined the app at 13 but I thought I'd add the warning because the author adds it too so it must be important to them.
I'll admit, I enjoyed the first book more but god I loved this one too. This book focused more on building their relationship and it also gave us a more in depth look into the lifestyle. It also gave me a reason to hate Gerard for like 10 chapters or something but I guess I'm over that now because he changed and that's all that matters.
There is a lot of character development here. In the first book, most of the development was done on Frank's part as he went from a 1000000% vanilla and very toxic relationship to a most definitely not vanilla and very safe relationship. On this book though, we see both of them changing. Gerard starts to show more emotion and stops being such an uptight person all the time. He talks about emotions and past experiences more often and takes Frank's feelings into consideration more. On Frank's end, he is more open than before. Although he wasn't exactly a closed book in the past, here we see him talking and communicating better, even building up more confidence to stand up for himself and what he wants.
In this book we also learn an important issue about Gerard. Now this is a bit of a spoiler(not a major one though) so skip ahead if you'd like. I'm gonna talk about what we learn and how well the author talked about it.
*mini spoiler ahead*
So basically, we find out Gerard is type 1 diabetic. In case you don't know, type 1 diabetes is an illness/hidden disability and I myself have it as well. It was hinted all throughout the story, even from the first book(which shows how well planned and thought out this story is), but I didn't actually get the hints until we got to the chapter the 'reveal' happened. It was so well represented that I caught on quite a few paragraphs before the actual reveal and when I read that it was in fact diabetes, I was ecstatic. This might be a bit of a tmi, but I am interested in the BDSM lifestyle but for years I was afraid my disability would set me back. Well, apparently it won't! This is what I meant before about inclusiveness. It is very important to be inclusive in the right way. And the author did it in the best way possible. I talked to them about it and turns out, they just did their research on it and didn't base it off of personal experience which honestly surprised me. The representation was very spot on! I could go on about this for hours since I'm quite passionate about it but I'd probably bore you all to death.
*spoilers end here*
I mostly mentioned this to show that the author isn't playing around. They did correct research and were very proffessional about it, something you don't see much both in fan fics and everywhere else.
And that wasn't the only disability mentioned in the book. There was a lot of inclusiveness sprinkled all through the story that I absolutely loved.
Ok so there's one thing I have mixed feelings for. So in the book quite a few times there were conversations between the characters mentioning an event that happened in their lives and said event was never mentioned in the book. As a person with real bad memory, I found myself trying to think back to everything I'd read and stressing out that maybe I had forgotten something. Well, I hadn't forgotten anything. The author basically writes parts of the characters' lives and not all of them, which makes sense. I mean, their lives aren't just 10 scenes in a book. It's realistic that way but it just confused me a bit.

Ok that was a long ass review. There is a third, and final, book (called:Vanilla down your throat) that I am currently in the process of reading(we're on chapter 3). I was way too excited to talk about these masterpieces of books to wait for the third one to end so that's why it's not in here. I think those two reviews should be enough to convince you to read them though.
