2.2 Bright

^her outfit for this chapter and the next

An upbeat song with a colorful group dancing is what the band is introduced to when they land in Julie's school's gym. Julie quickly realizes they were there, "What are you guys doing here?"

"We wanna see you stick it to the man. Isn't that right, boys? Lara?" Luke tells her.

Lara grins to the girl, who was wearing the outfit she chose, "Ya definitely, couldn't miss the show."

Reggie looks to the girls dancing, "Man, I miss high school."

They all watch for the rest of the performance, Alex joining in on the dancing, but stops when Luke shows him Julie's reaction. Lara grins at him, and the crowd cheers when the song is over.

"Thank you! Thank you!" The girl singing shouts.

Someone from the audience yells, "We love you, Carrie!"

"Oh, I love you too! Make sure to check out my new YouTube video. Oh, go bobcats!"

The principle walks up, "Thank you, Dirty Candy."

Julie's best friend, Flynn says, "Now's your chance. Go talk to her. See you in music class." She walks away.

"That was sweet. Ok then. Before we let you go, we have a few more announcements..." the principle continues on.

Reggie looks to Julie, "What are you waiting for this is your time?"

"Yeah. I mean, you look really nervous. Like yack in a bowl nervous," Alex says.

Lara walks up to the nervous girl, "Hey, you're gonna do amazing."

"I just don't think I had enough time to work on the song," Julie fidgets.

Luke walked closer to her, "I wouldn't have given you the song if I didn't think you were gonna rock it. Now, there's a piano on that stage with your name on it." He points to the stage.

Lara smirked, "I will literally carve it on there if you need me to."

The principle was still talking, "We look forward to our girl's swim team defending our state championship."

"Go, Bobcats!" The other teacher said, and the crowd cheers, all getting up to leave. Julie walks up to the stage and plays a note, but stops looking to the band.

Luke encourages her, "You got this."

"Woo!" Lara cheers.

Julie smiles and starts to sing.

Julie, Luke, Reggie, (Lara), all

"Sometimes I think I'm falling down

I wanna cry, I'm callin' out

For one more try to feel alive

And when I feel lost and alone

I know that I can make it home

Fight through the dark

And find the spark," Julie smiles when she sees people stopping to listen.

"Life is a risk but I will take it

Close my eyes and jump

Together I think that we can make it

Come on, let's run," The band all join Julie on stage, each with their instruments, not knowing that the whole gym can now see them.

"And rise through the night, you and I," Julie laughs and gets up to join them.

"We will fight to shine together," she goes over to Luke and turns around to look at the other members of the band.

"Bright forever

And rise through the night, you and I," she finally turns around to face the crowd and realizes they can see what she sees.

"We will fight to shine together

Bright forever," the rest of the band notices too.

Julie whispers to Luke and Lara, "Uh, is this really happening?"

"Just go with it," Luke grins.

Lara almost stops playing, "They can see us?"

Luke went to his mic, "And times that I doubted myself

I felt likе I needed some help

Stuck in my hеad with nothing left," he looks over and sees Julie, Reggie, and Lara all jamming together.

"I feel something around me now

So unclear, lifting me out," Julie looks to Alex.

I found the ground I'm marching on"

Reggie joins Luke on his mic, "Life is a risk but we will take it

Close my eyes and jump

Together I think that we can make it

Come on, (let's run)," Lara looks at two of her boys and grins.

Reggie goes back over to Lara, "And rise through the night, (you and I)

We will fight to shine together

(Bright forever)," Luke looks over at Lara and the two share a smile.

"And rise through the night, you and I

We will fight to shine together

Bright forever," The whole band is having fun and enjoying what they are doing.

"The times that I doubted myself," Julie walked over to him and he began to sing on her mic. Lara smiled even more at this.

"I felt like I needed some help

Stuck in my head, (with nothing left)"

Luke played his guitar with Julie right next to him singing, "And when I feel lost and alone

I know that I can make it home

Fight through the dark and find the spark," Julie walked through Luke, which sets off the crowd.

"And rise through the night, you and I

We will fight to shine together (Shine together)," Lara and Reggie end up sharing a mic for the rest of the song, occasionally looking at each other.

"Bright forever (Bright forever)

And rise through the night, you and I

We will fight to shine together

Bright forever". 

Julie raises her mic in the air and the crowd goes wild. The band disappears after the music ends and they bow, the crowd goes into confusion no one really understanding what just happened.
