May 1991 pt 2

"Ok, first official band meeting. Before we can become an actual band we need a band name. What's everyone got?" Luke looked at his friends, holding a notepad prepared to write down everyone's ideas.

"Bobby and the Others." He was the first to pitch a name and Luke did not even write it down. Bobby held up his hands in defeat, "Oh come on it was good."

"No, it was not," Lara shook her head.

"Ooh, what about The Five or-or BALLR?" Reggie suggested. Luke wrote The Five down but stopped at BALLR.

"Baller? Like basketball?"

"No no. B-A-L-L-R. It's all of our initials put together."

"LABLR, ALLBR, BRALL, RBALL, RALBL, ya I'm just not feeling the initials thing. Only one vowel makes it not cool," Alex said after trying to make it better.

"We need something that will get people to listen to our music. Something that people would be interested in when they hear our name. Something cool," Luke tapped his pencil on the notebook.

Lara looked at Luke, "Ok, so what's something cool?"

"Music," Luke responded.

"Ok, ok, everyone start listing things that you think is cool and I'll write them down until something sparks an idea." Lara took the notebook and pencil from Luke.

"Pizza." 

"Movies." 

"Puppies." 

"Guitars."

"Drums." 

                                       "Me." Lara rolled her eyes at that one.

"Video Games."

                                        "Skateboarding."

"Beanies."

                                        "Cars."

"Star Wars." 

                                          "Legos."

"Rockstars." 

"Leather jackets." 

"Sunsets." 

"Popcorn."

                                         "Superheros."

"Hollywood."

"Sliders." 

"Mountains." 

"Wait, wait Sunset! Sunset sunset sunset... Sunset Ride? Sunset High? Sunset Right? Sunset Flight?" The boys stopped listing things and just watched Lara think. "Sunset Line? Sunset... Sunset Ray? Sunset... Curve. Sunset Curve. Sunset Curve?"

The boys perked up when they heard that.

"Should our band name be Sunset Curve?" Lara looked at each of them with a grin on her face.

Alex laughed, "That just feels right."

"I agree, everyone vote. Raise your hand if you vote yes to Sunset Curve," Luke counted them down, and all five of their hands went into the air. They cheered and started to celebrate. Reggie picked Lara up and spun her around making her laugh. Sunset Curve is officially born.

The next day Lara walked into school holding five bracelets she made the night before. She was really into making those at the moment. Luke had like three, Alex had a matching one with her that they both wore all the time, Bobby didn't accept any of the ones she tried to give him before, and Reggie had like seven or eight. He kept breaking them by accident and would get upset every time he did.

Once everyone in Sunset Curve arrived at their lunch table Lara pulled out her present, "Ok so I know you guys don't really like wearing bracelets all the time, but I made these last night. They are the first official Sunset Curve merch. I made one for all of us." Lara showed off the one she was wearing, it had yellow, orange, and red on it, as well as beads spelling out Sunset Curve. The ones she made the boys had the same colors and beads.

"Lara, you didn't have to do that. But I'm so glad you did," Alex grabbed his bracelet and put it on, it looked nice next to the pink and blue one that matched Lara's other bracelet.

Luke smiled, and put his on as well, "Thanks, Lars."

Bobby actually grabbed the bracelet and put it on.

"Wait you're actually going to wear it?" Lara asked Bobby.

"Only because it's for Sunset Curve." Lara grinned but noticed she still had one bracelet left in her hand.

Reggie was staring at it with a sad expression, "I'm going to break it if I try to put it on." Lara laughed and grabbed his wrist, putting the bracelet on for him. This made Reggie cheer. The new band laughed.

Each member of Sunset Curve wore that bracelet until it fell off or broke. Luke's broke first, he accidentally undid it when he was playing guitar. Alex's became too loose for him to wear so he just put it on his keychain. Bobby's also broke when he was playing guitar, that or he took it off and blamed it on the guitar so Lara wouldn't get mad at him. Lara's and Reggie's came off when they were taking a nap together. They still aren't sure how it happened.
