It was Christmas time. The house was covered in decorations. The twins had gotten home from practice and their mom was waiting for them.
"I got a phone call today. Something about playing a club next weekend? Since when do you two play clubs?" She had her hands on her hips.
Lara glanced at her mom, walking further into the house, "Since Sunset Curve started to grow, Mom. We've done this for months. I've got homework."
"Were you ever going to inform your parents about the places you two perform?" Emily looked at Luke.
"No, you hate that we are even in a band. Why would we tell you where we play?" Luke fumed back at her, storming to his room. Both twins already knowing where this may lead.
"Get back here, I'm not done with you two." Emily stood in the doorway of her children's rooms, so she could see both of them, and them her. "Your father and I want what's best for the two of you, and this-this band is not that."
Luke stood up, "This band is good, and this band is going to make it. Maybe if you actually supported us and came to one of our shows you would see that!"
Lara sighed, standing up and following after the two who had begun to shout at one another.
"Why would I go to one of your shows? This dream the two of you have needs to die before it gets out of hand. It is unrealistic!"
"Unrealistic? What's unrealistic is me thinking you actually care about what we wanted, and what made us happy," Luke shouted back at her. He started to throw things in a bag.
Lara tried to reason, she already had tears in her eyes knowing what her brother was about to do, "Mom if you would just hear us play you would understand."
"No, Luke put that guitar down now! I have had it with you two and that stupid band. You are both quitting, no more shows, no more practice, no more anything. I have had it! It's over!"
Luke grabbed the last of his things and bolted out of the house, grabbing his bike, and leaving as fast as he could. Emily following him outside shouting his name. Lara rushed to her room, threw everything she would need into bags, grabbed her guitar, and followed him. But before she got onto her bike she stopped to look at her mother, who had tears flowing down her face, she then turned to her father who had a confused look after just getting out of his car, and without a word she rode away, going as fast as she could to catch up with Luke.
The two arrived at the studio not long afterward. Luke angrily threw his bike down rushing into the room.
"I can't believe her! If she would just listen to us she would understand! Why can't she understand! This is our dream!" Luke threw his hands into his hair gripping tightly. Lara walked over to him, a few tears had shed on the ride, and grabbed his hands to prevent him from pulling out his hair.
"Lu, I don't think there's anything we can do to make her understand. You get your stubbornness from her, she's only doing what she thinks is right. Even if it isn't."
"I don't want to go back there."
"And we won't, we won't go back until we are both ready. Until she realizes what we are doing is worth the risk. Until she comes to see one of our shows, we won't go back."
Luke grabbed Lara and hugged her, "Thank you." Lara just responded by rubbing his back, comforting him.
"Aren't parents supposed to support their kids? Why can't she?"
"I don't know Lu, I wish she would just come to one of our shows and see how good we are. How it's not stupid and pointless."
