"Is everybody fired up for Julie and the Phantoms?" Flynn announces to the crowd, who cheers in response. "Great! Keep that fire 'cause that's later. We're a bit behind schedule, but don't worry, just enjoy these mind-blowing beats." The crowd cheers and she turns the music back on.
"Julie and the Phantoms?" Julie asks Flynn with a grin on her face.
"I love it!" Lara gets a huge grin.
"I had some free time in French class. And you'd better like it because I registered it on Insta, Snapchat, Twitter..."
Julie laughed, "No, I love it. But I'd love it even more if the actual Phantoms, besides Lara, were here." Julie sees Nick walking up to her. "Nick," she chuckles awkwardly, "Look, Flynn, it's Nick." But Flynn has already walked away.
"Thanks for the introduction."
"So you made it."
"Wouldn't miss it. The truth is I can't wait to see you play again. Your song has been stuck in my head for weeks."
Julie chuckles, "Well, someone should let it out. I don't know what they meant, either." Lara cringes and shakes her head.
He chuckles, "I like your shoes."
"Thanks. I just like to doodle on them sometimes."
Carrie walks backstage, "I can't tell if the crowd is getting restless or bored. Never a good sign. Oh, hi, Julie. Got a new bag?"
Lara whispers to Julie, "I already don't like her."
"Actually, it's my hologram projector. Just did a little upgrade."
"Oh, so simple. You know, I was expecting something a little more... sophisticated."
"It's what's on the inside that counts."
Carrie snickers, "Yeah, that's what a lot of people have to tell themselves. Come on Nick." They both leave.
"She is an acquired taste," Lara quips to Julie.
Julie sighs and checks the time, her phone says 9:15.
"Keep it funky, y'all!" Flynn hollers, and the crowd cheers in response.
Julie begins to nervously pace backstage. Lara joins her after setting down her sketchbook, trying to rationalize what the boys could have gotten themselves into.
Flynn comes over to Julie, "I can only stall for so long. It's eleven o'clock. I think you should just play by yourself, or maybe with just Lara. I mean, holograms or no holograms, you'll be amazing."
"You saw me the other day. I can't play without them. They'll be here. They have to," Julie sighs.
Lara whispers to herself, "I really hope they are just super late and not..."
Flynn walks away, "Lookin' good, Bobcats!"
"Issues?" Nick asks Julie who was sitting on the ground next to her "hologram" machine.
"Always. My machine won't work," he picks up the machine and starts to look at it, "You don't have to."
Lara looks at Julie, "Hey, Julie I'm going to try and track them down, I have a bad feeling. I'm not sure where they went so it might take me a minute to find them." Julie nods and mouths "Good luck".
Lara poofs into the studio and doesn't see anything.
"Ugh, guys where are you?" She goes to the spot Alex said he and Willie met. She sees an origami crane and smiles.
