"Come on Reggie, let's go!" Lara pulled him along. Reggie laughed and sped up.

"Race you to the pier!"

The two young teenagers took off, Reggie winning by half a second.

"You cheated," Lara panted.

Reggie shook his head, "I did not cheat, you are just slow."

"I am not slow!"

Reggie began to tease her, she gently shoved his shoulder making him laugh.

"Ooh, we should get pretzels!" Reggie pointed to the stand selling the exact thing he wanted, Lara agreed and the two began to wander towards the water with their snacks.

It was the last day of spring break and the two wanted to spend the whole day just the two of them. They had spent the whole break with their group of friends so the two had missed their hang out alone time. They mindlessly chatted about literally anything, the pair never seemed to run out of things to talk about.

"Ok so dream guy right? But once a year he comes home just covered, head to toe, in blood. You aren't allowed to ask any questions, no who's blood is that? Where have you been? Nothing. Would you still date him?" Reggie laughed. The two had been giving each other "what if" situations for the past hour, each of them getting weirder and weirder.

"Oh ya totally. I don't judge, he could be a butcher and that's something they do at a butcher convention. I don't know what they do at those things."

"Do they even have those?"

"I don't know but they have them for science so I would assume they'd eventually have one for everything."

"That would make sense," he nodded.

They watched the ocean for a few minutes, and then Lara inhaled. "Reggie, I have a brilliant idea."

Reggie looked over to her with a confused look, "What's your idea?"

She held up her small carving knife, she liked to carry it around sometimes, Reggie shook his head not getting at what she was suggesting. She laughed, grabbed his hand, and pulled him towards the posts holding up the pier. Lara didn't see the smile that Reggie got when she took his hand.

"Ok this one, hardly anyone will see it back here," she opened the knife and started to carve and "L". when she was finished she added a plus sign and handed the knife to Reggie.

"What do I do with it?"

Lara laughed, "You carve an "R", for Reggie."
He made that "oh" face and grinned, getting to work. His carving took longer than Lara's as he was not as skilled as the girl.

"I still don't understand how you know how to carve so well."

"My dad used to carve with his dad all the time, so when we were younger he taught me and Luke how to do it, Luke never really got the hang of it, but he tries."

Reggie watched Lara as she carved "were here" underneath their initials. "We won't get in trouble for this right?"

"Not if we don't get caught. Besides no one's around anyways."

The two giggled and stepped back admiring their work.

"Do you think it'll still be here in a year?" Reggie asked.

"Oh absolutely. It'll still be here in ten years, maybe even thirty!"

Reggie laughed and threw an arm around Lara's shoulder, "Well then in thirty years, when we are old, we will have to come back to this very spot to see how much has changed."

"You think we'll be as close friends in thirty years just like we are now?" Lara looked at him with hope in her eyes.

"Lars, I think we will be even closer than we are now." He pulled her even closer to him to emphasize his point. This made her laugh.

The two went to the edge of the water, putting their feet into the ocean, and just enjoyed each other's company.

"Wait is it already dusk? I thought it was only like 4?" Lara looked confused.

"We should probably head home before the sun fully sets. You know your mom hates it when you are out past dark."

"Ugh I know, she hates it when I do anything."

"That's not true." Lara stopped walked and gave him a look, "Ok it's a little true."

Lara laughed and the two walked down the shore to Reggie's house. When they arrived Lara hopped on her bike and headed off towards her house, all without noticing Reggie's look when she left. Reggie wished every day was like this one, just him and Lara and nothing but laughter.

Sorry, I haven't updated in forever, I've had a crap ton of school work to do, and I may be running out of ideas.
