Chapter 34

"I want to talk to you, privately." Seryosong sambit ni Miguel. We just finished eating and we decided to stay here for awhile.

"About what?" I curiously asked.

"Just come with me." Sagot niya. Bigla namang tumahimik ang paligid. Samantha and Vladimir stopped talking to each other. Napatingin sila sa amin.

"I want to talk to Celaine." Matapang niyang saad kay Vladimir.

"You're already talking." Sarkastikong sagot sa kanya ni Vlad. "Vlad." Saway ko. He looked at me and rolled his eyes.

"Make it quick. Don't do anything stupid to my wife." Pagdidiin niya sa salitang stupid at wife. My heartbeat started to race. I hope he doesn't get mad.

"Thank you." At tumayo na si Miguel. Sumunod din ako sa kanya palabas ng restaurant. We found ourselves on a bench outside. I shivered when the cold breeze touched my skin.

"Here." Saad ni Miguel at inabot ang coat niya sa akin. Tinanggap ko kaagad iyon at isinuot sa sarili ko.

"What is it, Miguel?" I asked. Bigla niyang iniwas ang tingin niya sa akin.

He sighed. "I-I don't know. I don't know where to start. I still think about you."

Hindi ako sumagot. I became speechless. Hindi ko alam kung anong sasagutin sa kanya. I just stared at his handsome face while he was looking at somewhere else.

"W-Wala na ba talaga akong chance?" He sounded so lonely.

"Miguel, I'm married already, you know what that means." I answered calmly.

"Sorry, I just feel so regretful sometimes. I'm a coward. I could've just confessed my feelings for you back then."

My mind went blank. A-Ano raw? He had the same feelings with me back then?

"Huh?"

He looked at me straight into my eyes. "I liked you more than a friend, Celaine. I didn't want to ruin our friendship so I tried to hide it. I moved on. I tried everything to stop my feelings for you."

"And then suddenly when I forgot about it, you confessed to me. It's like you've been fucking with my feelings." He added.

"Miguel..."

"Our prom night. I will never forget that day. You confessed to me and I did something I regret up until now. I could have said that I've been feeling the same with you... but all I felt was anger at that time." His voice cracked and his eyes started to get wet.

"I'd do everything. I'd risk everything just to turn back time. I-I wish I could." At tuluyan nang bumagsak ang luha niya. Bawat patak ay pinupunasan niya ito kaagad.

"I'm sorry." I exclaimed. Wala na talaga akong masabi. Hindi pa rin nagsisink in ang mga sinasabi niya sa akin.

"No, don't be. This is all my fault." Aniya. Mapait siyang tumawa. "My mind just feels so dumb when I'm around you. Baka na-overwhelm lang talaga ako. I-I mean look at you, you're more than perfect. You're rich, you're beautiful, you're kind, and there's something in your eyes that makes me forget about the world."
