Present

"Kook, do you want me to put this box in the bedroom?" Seokjin asked. "Yeah. Eomma is calling. Leave the boxes, I'll come and help you" he said and left to answer the call.

This was how it had been for the past few days.

Jungkook's voice held no emotion. His face held no expression. His words held no weight.

He dropped all honorifics. In fact, he stopped addressing people. He just said what he wanted to say, with neither an expression, nor an emotion.

'We'll work on it' Seokjin thought. If it was four months ago, the same sentence that Jungkook had said just now would have contained more 'hyung's than required. 'Yeah, hyung. Eomma is calling. Leave the boxes, hyung. I'll come and help you.'

Seokjin sighed again and began to push the box towards the bedroom, while Jungkook walked out to talk to his mother.

"Hello?"
"Hello, Kookie! Are you okay, baby?"
"......"
"Right. Stupid question. How are you feeling, baby?"
"Like shit"
"......"
"......."
"Appa asked our tenants to move out. We are coming back to our house, baby. Come and live with us. You don't have to live alone in that house" Jihyo said.

"No"
"Kookie......"
"No. I can't. I won't"
"Kookie, listen to me. It's your wish. Stay in that house if you want. Just remember that we are moving back to our house. We will be moving back within a week"
"Okay" he heard his mother sigh at the monotonous voice.

"Take care of yourself, honey"
"Okay"
"I need to go now, baby. I love you"
"Okay, bye" Jungkook hung up and walked back towards Seokjin, who was looking out of the window with his back towards Jungkook.

"They are moving back here" he said. Seokjin realized that Jungkook was talking to him and not to his mother after a few seconds. He turned back to face Jungkook.

"Who?" he asked. "Eomma and Appa" Jungkook said, putting his clothes into the wardrobe.

"Ohh. That's nice. Will you move in with them, then?" Seokjin asked, helping him with the clothes. "No" Jungkook said.

Seokjin waited for an explanation, but it never came. He sighed again. "When?" he asked. "A week" Jungkook said, bending down to get a few more clothes.

"Okay. I'll stay for two weeks, then" Seokjin said. "Okay" Jungkook said.

"The bedroom floor is a bit weak, I think. I mean, you can feel it when you walk. The floor in the living room feels a lot stronger than the one in the bedroom" Seokjin said, hoping Jungkook would stop giving one-word answers.

"Okay" Jungkook said, once again cutting the conversation off with his single-word answer.

Seokjin lost count of how many times he sighed in the past five minutes because of Jungkook. He went away to arrange the toiletries in the cabinet in the washroom.

He picked up the shaving cream and shampoo in one hand while he opened the cabinet with the other. "Ohh?!" he exclaimed, placing the shampoo and shaving cream in a shelf and picking up the book he found in one of the shelves.

He quickly arranged all the items in the shelf before taking the book with him and walking out to show it to Jungkook. But Jungkook wasn't in the room. So he just plopped on the bed and opened the book.

It seemed like a diary entry. 'Looks like a decent guy. Maybe he forgot the book here' he thought as he skimmed through the entries.

"I ordered food" Jungkook said, coming into the room and flopping on the bed with him. "Okay. I found the previous tenant's diary" Seokjin said.

"Leave it alo-" Jungkook was cut off by a gasp from Seokjin.

"What?" he asked. Seokjin sat up with a shocked expression, pointing to a particular entry. "Give me a second" he said, reading the entry as fast as he could. He turned the pages backward to check if it really started on that particular date or if he had missed it in the previous pages.

But the words clearly stated that it started that day.

"It is so weird. I've never heard whimpers and all those random noises before. It is as if the house is suddenly being haunted. It is really creeping me out. The whimpers kept me up the whole night. Ughhh, so freaking creepy!"

Seokjin frantically turned the pages, skimming through the next few pages. Every entry showed how much the whimpers were freaking him out. The guy lasted exactly two weeks after the whimpers started. The diary was empty after that.

The last entry was about how he was going to just escape from the house before something happened to him. It was in an extremely shabby handwriting, as if the guy's hand had been shaking the whole time.

'Maybe the cleaners found this book and put it in the bathroom cabinet' he thought as he frantically turned back to the page where the whimpers first started.

He looked up at Jungkook with shock still present on his face.

"What happened?" Jungkook asked again, showing no actual interest in the diary.

"Remember how Dae Shin said that the previous tenant left because he kept saying that the house was being haunted? There are entries of how he kept hearing whimpers every night. Apparently, the whimpers are faint, but they are there" Seokjin said.

The doorbell suddenly rang, pulling the two of them out of their minds.

"Bull crap. Maybe he didn't have the money to pay for the house" Jungkook scoffed and got up to get the door.

"But it says the haunting started on September 21.......exactly two days after you left him in the park and he died" Seokjin whispered to himself, flipping through the pages once again to see if the tenant described the voice of the whimpers.
