Taehyung whimpered suddenly, sending shivers down Jungkook's spine.
While Mr. Jeon was busy tying Taehyung's hands around his neck securely, he was busy throwing dirt upon himself for sleeping through Taehyung's whimpers for more than a week.
He couldn't believe that he thought it was the voice of the ghost of Taehyung.
He couldn't believe that he was ready to listen to those whimpers forever to satisfy himself and keep listening to his lover's voice, all at the cost of Taehyung's suffering.
He couldn't get the broken, blank look in Taehyung's eyes out of his mind. He couldn't accept the fact that Taehyung couldn't remember him.
Above everything else, he couldn't believe that he was physically touching his boyfriend, who had been deemed dead all this while. How many months had he spent crying for him while Taehyung suffered all alone?
"Kookie, hurry" his father pulled him out of his thoughts. Mr. Jeon quickly wiped the tears from Jungkook's eyes for a better vision, seeing as Jungkook's hands were hooked under Taehyung's thighs.
Jungkook hurried to the ladder. "I'll hold him from behind. You can let go of him" Mr. Jeon said. Jungkook didn't waste time. He immediately let go of Taehyung's thighs and held the ladder, trusting his father to hold him safely.
He looked up at Seokjin, Jackson and Mr. Kim, who were already waiting to hoist him and Taehyung up through the hole in the floor.
He was almost up when Dae Shin's voice sounded from the basement. "What the hell do you think you are doing? Koo-" Namjoon silenced him with a bullet to the wall.
Jungkook flinched and almost lost his balance, but his father balanced him from behind.
"On your knees" Namjoon said, his eyes blazing with a fire that Dae Shin had never expected. "ON TO YOUR KNEES" he yelled, aiming the gun right at Dae Shin's temple.
In a swift movement, Dae Shin tried to grab a gun from a nearby shelf, but Namjoon shot him in his leg with swifter movements.
Dae Shin fell to the ground with a loud cry, sending shivers down the spines of every single person above them.
Multiple sirens sounded in the distance, alerting them of the nearing ambulance and cops.
"Careful, careful" Jackson grunted as the three of them worked on hauling Jungkook and Taehyung up without hurting the latter.
"Tae!" Nayeon croaked with tears flowing freely as Seokjin carried him bridal style and placed him on the bed. Nayeon ran to the bed, with her husband hot on her heels.
"Tae...." she gently pushed his hair out of his forehead. A sob broke out of her mouth as she scanned his body. Jihyo ran to her and hugged her from behind, giving her a silent support, while Mr. Kim tried his best to keep his tears at bay.
But all it took for him to break down was a hand on his shoulder and a nod from Mr. Jeon. All the feelings that he had bottled up since his son had gone missing, so that he could stay strong for his wife, came out rushing.
Jungkook, on the other hand, was trying to hold himself up. He had to be there for Taehyung. He couldn't cry.
He made way for the paramedics and the cops who had rushed into the room. He silently pointed to the hole in the floor, asking the cops to get down to the basement for the criminal.
Criminal.
