32. Coconut hair

Past 

"Yo!" Taehyung greeted as he walked towards their regular spot. "Yo! Where's Kookie?" Dae Shin asked. "Washroom, I guess. He wasn't there in his class when I went to get him" Taehyung said, sitting in front of Seokjin. 

"Ohh. Let's wait for him, then" Seokjin said. "Okay" Taehyung said, taking his lunch box out of his bag. "So where's that guy you brought yesterday?" Dae Shin asked. "Jimin? He was absent today" Taehyung said. "Ohh. It's a good thing you are finally making friends other than me and Seokjin. We will be gone by the end of this year. You need friends" Dae Shin said. 

"Yeahh. Like I said, he is new here. I think we are gonna get along well" Taehyung said. "I hope so. Kookie should make a few too. I heard that they are gonna change the lunch timings for the middle and high school classes. So you and Kookie might not be able to eat together next year onwards" Dae Shin said. 

"Yeah, I heard that too. He apparently made a friend. He said his name is Jake" Taehyung said. "Ohh. That's nice. Where the hell is he, by the way?" Seokjin asked. Taehyung shrugged and opened his box. 

"I am hungry" he said and dug into his box. "Yeah, let's just eat. He'll come" Dae Shin said. "Okay" Seokjin said and opened his box as well. 

"So how are your taekwondo classes going?" Seokjin asked, taking a bite from Taehyung's box. "Nice! I learnt how to do a high kick yesterday. I can kick anyone now" Taehyung said, grinning widely and reaching out to take Dae Shin's box. 

"That's great!!! I've been asking my mum to let me learn taekwondo. But she isn't letting me" Dae Shin pouted sadly, taking Taehyung's box, seeing as Taehyung loved the lunch that Dae Shin's mother had made. 

"Aww, don't be sad, hyung. I'll teach you a few things when we go out to play" Taehyung said. "I'll learn too" Seokjin said. "Sure! I don't ha-" "Ohh, KOOKIE!!" Dae Shin exclaimed. "What's wrong?" he asked as Jungkook sat with them with puffy eyes and a huge pout on his face. 

The size difference between Dae Shin and Jungkook was really huge. While Dae Shin and Seokjin were about to graduate from high school, Jungkook had just entered middle school. 

Thus, Jungkook was still a tiny creature compared to Dae Shin and Seokjin, who were huge, with stubble on their faces, thanks to their teenage. 

The difference really made it seem a little cute when Jungkook instantly launched into a stream of complaints about how his classmates made fun of his new haircut, with new tears running down his face. He wiped the tears with the back of his hand as he told them all about how his new haircut was being a hindrance to him.

Taehyung, Dae Shin and Seokjin knew that it wouldn't actually have been serious enough for Jungkook to be crying like that. The classmates might have simply snickered at his new haircut. It was funny, to be honest. Coconut hair always looked funny, no matter who had it. 

But knowing Jungkook, he would have immediately burst into tears. Jungkook had always been extremely sensitive when it came to people scolding him or judging him. All you had to do to reduce him to a mess of tears was to snicker at him or yell at him for half a minute.

"It's okay, Kookie! Do you want me to go and yell at them?" Dae Shin asked. "You would?" Jungkook asked, looking at him with huge, wet, puppy eyes. 

'Dammit!' Dae Shin thought. He was already whipped for the kid as it was. 

Normal puppy eyes were enough for him to relent and do whatever Jungkook wanted him to do. (Not romantically, guys. Romantically, Dae Shin likes Seokjin. Don't forget that.)

But wet puppy eyes? Huge glistening eyes with a huge pout on his face? Bad combination. (Warning - Don't imagine this. It does things to your heart)

He was already on his feet, dusting his pants. "Gimme five minutes, I'll be right back" he said and was off. "Don't worry, Kookie. Shinie hyung is gonna give them a nice scolding. They won't make fun of it ever again" Seokjin said, patting his thigh and reminding him to start eating. 

"Shinie hyung brought bibimbap. Do you want some?" Taehyung asked, pushing Dae Shin's box, the one that he had been eating from, towards Jungkook. Jungkook's face lit up and he nodded happily, his mop of hair bouncing on top of his head. 

Seokjin snickered at the bounce, but converted it into a cough immediately so that Jungkook wouldn't burst into tears once again. 

Taehyung widened his eyes at Seokjin, grinning at the near slip. Jungkook was too busy enjoying the bibimbap to notice anything. 

Dae Shin returned after ten minutes and sat down. He took Jungkook's box, seeing as his own lunch was done and Taehyung had started eating from his own box. 

"It's done, Kookie. No one's gonna laugh at that coconut hair" he said, chuckling at the end. Jungkook pouted and whined. He put Dae Shin's box down and jumped forward to attack Dae Shin with his tiny fist, only to fall right on him. 

Dae Shin laughed loudly and fell back, breaking their fall and wrapping his hands around Jungkook's waist while Jungkook busied himself with punching Dae Shin's chest continuously. "Hey, Kookie! Stop tickling me!" Dae Shin laughed. 

"I. Am. Not. Tickling. You" Jungkook grunted as he tried to hit harder. "Certainly feels like that. Okay, okay, stop. I'll buy whatever you want to make up for it, okay?" Dae Shin offered. "You are spoiling him" Seokjin said before Jungkook could reply. 

"Aish! Let me just spoil my two favourite dongsaengs for as long as I can. Come on, tell me what you two want" he said, sitting up and letting Jungkook sit beside him. 

"Lamb skewers!" 
"Hamburgers!" 
"Lobster!"

"Hey! I said I'll buy for Kookie and Tae! Not for you!" Dae Shin exclaimed as Seokjin asked for lobsters. "Shut up. We all know you won't leave me behind" Seokjin said. "True" Dae Shin chuckled. 

The bell rang, signaling the end of the break. "Okay. Let's buy lamb skewers, hamburgers and lobsters on our way back home. We gotta celebrate Kookie's coconut hair after all" Dae Shin ruffled Jungkook's hair and immediately hid behind Seokjin to dodge a punch from him. 

"Seeya, guys" Seokjin finally exclaimed, walking towards the high school building. "Seeya, hyung" Taehyung and Jungkook exclaimed and walked towards the middle school building.
