So, erm, I googled his name, as I was reading a book and it came up as an adjective.
Sully as a name means: Dark eyes, most likely if the author of Liu researched the name; relating to the fact that Sully has pitch black eyes when in control.
Sully as an adjective means stain, or damage the purity of something, yet again if the author researched it; this could be relating to how he's a stain on Lius life basically and how he's damaged the purity left of Liu either way.
I could just be going insane here, but it's a possibility.
