"can you clasp this necklace for me?" briar asks jaden as she puts the final touches on her outfit, before she goes downstairs to meet all of her guests for her graduation party

yesterday afternoon, briar and her friends from new jersey got their caps and gowns on and walked across the stage receiving awards and diplomas. jaden, evan, angelica, and briars nonno and nonna were all sitting in the front row with huge bouquets of red roses for her. once she took her diploma and the photographer snapped a picture of her and the principal together, she walked down the steps and jaden handed her his roses.

now there were hundreds of people outside in the backyard of her nonnas house. angelica has been planning this party since briars freshman year. she has hundreds of tables set up along the backyard and photos of briar from all ages hung from string lights across trees. there's a small wooden stage for people to dance on and there's a huge tent with long tables filled with homemade food from briars nonnas kitchen. briars nonna made the best food ever.

"wow." jaden steps back taking a good look at briar, "you look incredible." he smiles attaching their lips

"you're making me blush." she nudges his shoulder playfully, "are you excited to meet my family?"
she asks, "my nonna has been asking about you."

"well i'm excited to meet her." he grins,
"let's take a polaroid." he suggests

"i'd like that." she grabs her camera

when the two finally come downstairs they're met with even more people in her house. her little cuginos running around the house playing tag, her mommas siblings helping her in the kitchen and even more. jaden grabs her hand and interlocks it with his, and with her free hand she waves to her mother, "hi momma."

"there's people outside to see you." angelica blinks,
"they've been waiting for a while."

"i thought i said hello to everyone already?"
briar questions

"they've travelled a long way to see you." she places some decorations on small cupcakes, "go on." she shoos the two away, "they're in the back yard."

jaden and briar walk hand in hand outside into the fresh spring air. as the two come out of the door, briars little cousin, giada, who's six years old and is like briars little sister runs up to her and wraps her tiny tan arms around briars soft leg, "bri." she smiles

"hi gia." she bends down and picks her up

"you look very pretty." she smiles, "oh hi jaden." giada reaches her hand out for a fist bump

"hi gia." he returns the favor then kisses her cheek and she blushes tucking a piece of her black hair behind her newly pierced ear. it's tradition in briars family for little girls when the turn six, to get their ears pierced for their birthday gift. and giadas birthday was a couple days ago.

"i met your friends." she grins, "they're very nice." she points to a group of teens with huge smiles on their face

"oh my god." briar breathes out, "no fucking way."

"hey don't say that." giada pouts,
"that's a bad word."

briar sets giada down, "hey go see nonna inside, she has a cupcake for you meno." briar smiles and looks back up at her friends waving, before she takes off towards them and engulfing them into her arms
