"come on briar." my mom calls out the front door, "you're going to be late."
i can't fathom to you how excited i am to go to california. like this is a dream come true. i'm so thankful for jaden and that he's helping me make this happen. he's a true blessing to me.
"coming!" i call back to her
i grab my very heavy suitcase and shut the front door behind me. i throw my suitcase in the backseat along with my carry on and purse. i sit down in the passengers seat and buckle before my mom backs out of our driveway towards the nearest airport in newark.
we're halfway to newark and my mom and i have been talking about mattia and what happened. i never really explained to her the entire story and to say the least, we both don't like mattia anymore.
"sooooo." my mom says, "i heard you and alejandro talking about a mystery boy."
"mystery boy?" i chuckle tucking a piece of hair behind my ear
"it starts with a j." she says, "i think."
"jaden?" i question
"yes!" she exclaims, "tell me about him, what's he like, zodiac sign, occupation."
"he's an amazing friend." i say
i internally sting at the word, "friend". it hurt saying that. did i think of jaden as more of a friend. hopefully not. i just got out of a long term relationship and the fandom of mattia WOULD DEFINITELY have a cow if i moved on with jaden. it's just harmless flirting, right?
"from what i heard from ale." she says, "he sounds like a good guy."
"he's been really sweet to me since mattia." i say, "he's different."
