Hello, lovelies!
Welcome to Week 18 at BUBC. I hope you're all well and healthy <3
I hope this club has brought you a bit of joy (or at least some distraction) from this-- erm--less than easy year :|I'll be handing out member stickers today, so watch out for those :D

This week's pairs:
Soo, this week is going to be a little different. Since some of you have been here a long time (5+ weeks--TYSM), you've probably had your first 3 chapters THOROGHOUGHLY reviewed xD
And I figured it'd be good to start moving on to later chapters which maybe need some more feedback.
Which is why I'll start pairing some of you up with your past pairs more often. Hopefully, it'll also encourage members to stick around on your story and read more on their own time :)1. neonkiwiii (A Single Rose) - fina900 (Lara)
2. amansrose (A Deadly Game) - amrodriguez007 (Lightning's Retribution)
3. _shikato_ (The Pheonix Queen) - RogueWriter55 (The Clearing)

Question of the Week:
What did you think of the Tone and Voice of the story?
Did you think the tone was appropriate for the genre?
How would you describe the tone (today's link should help you with this)?
Did you think the voice helped your immersion and overall enjoyment throughout the story? So, I personally didn't know that these two literary devices even existed. I thought it'd be fun to learn about them so we can use them to our advantage and improve our craft! \O/
What is tone?
The tone is the author's use of words and writing style to convey their attitude towards a topic. The tone is conveyed through your diction and your level of formality.
To put it simply, it is the way you adjust your narration to the purpose and/or genre of your story. The tone might not be the same in an 1890's mystery than it is a 21st-century RomCom.
What is voice?
The voice of a story is the author's personality expressed in writing. These two devices are what ultimately make up YOUR WRITING STYLE :D
You may change your writing tone to fit any type of genre. However, your writing voice should be consistent and unique to you.
There is only one sure way to develop a writing style, and there are no specific steps or time frame established to achieve it.
You can only develop a writing style BY WRITING (How redundant, Liann). But yes, you can only develop a consistent style by practicing your writing often.
As you write, you will notice if you tend to use more imagery, or metaphors/similes, or if you tend to pay more attention to the setting or to the character descriptions.
How you develop your characters.
The way you pace your stories.
Yada, yada, yada.BUT, there're two key points every writing style should have. That is:
- Readability
- The ability to communicate ideas clearlyHere are the references to this week's topics if you'd like to learn more about them :D

And answer the question of the week.
