Aahana's pov-
After the Joshis left, I headed to my room and noticed seven missed calls from my girls. I immediately FaceTimed them.
"WTF, Ana! Where the heck were you? We called you so many times!" Shruti exclaimed as soon as she picked up."Sorry, I had guests at my place, so I had to attend to them. Anyway, what's up with the sudden FaceTime? Is someone pregnant?" I asked, half-joking, since it was unusual for them to call so many times at this hour."No, babe, it's Umang Di's wedding next Wednesday in Udaipur, and you're all coming!" Anushka announced excitedly.Umang Di was Anushka's elder sister and practically an older sister to all of us. She used to take us out during exam season to help us relax and was always there for us through thick and thin."Thanks for the invite, but I don't think I can make it. I have some important meetings scheduled next week, a court case coming up, and my boss is pregnant, so I'm covering for her too. Plus, my assistant is sick," I rambled, feeling a pang of regret even as I listed my reasons. I really wanted to go, but my schedule was packed."Oh, come on, Ana! I'm canceling my shoots for this," Shruti said, trying to guilt-trip me."And I postponed a meeting with a board member of 'The New York Dance Academy.' Do you know how important that meeting is for me? And all four of us haven't gone out in years," Rhea chimed in."See, I knew you were going to give all those excuses, so I have the bride-to-be here with me, and she's going to give you a nice lesson now. Good luck," Anushka warned.God, she wasn't going to make this easy."What do you mean you're not coming? You're my little sister, Ana, and I'm not going to give you the whole 'I won't marry him if you're not there' speech, but you know how important you are to me. You girls are all like Anu to me. I was there when you passed your boards, became Miss Fresher, graduated, and passed the bar. And now you can't even come to my wedding? It hurts, Ana. I'm ordering you to be there. Dhruv's family has so many hot guys, and I've already shortlisted four for you. You're coming, and that's final—no ifs, ands, or buts. If you don't come, I'm not going to talk to you ever again," Umang Di said, her puppy eyes boring into me, with the other three girls mimicking her expression. How could I say no to that?"Fine, I'll be there for youuuuuu," I finally relented. All four of them started jumping in joy. God, I love them."Girls, I gotta go. Dhruv is calling me," Umang said, referring to her fiancé."Ooooooo, Jiju must be dying for the wedding to be over so you can start honeymooning," I teased her, making her turn red and blush furiously."Jiju is impatient, man. Like, right after the wedding, he'll be like, 'Let's break the bed, baby,'" Rhea joined in."Please ask him to wait till the 'bidai,'" Anu added, and we all burst out laughing."Shut up, you girls. Bye," Umang said, getting up and running out of the room.We all calmed down from our laughing fit."Ana, thanks for coming. It really means a lot to us," Anu said sincerely."And we're going by my car, so we'll finally have our road trip, just like in *Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara*," Shruti said excitedly."I know, right? Anyway, girls, I'm going to head out now. I have to wake up early tomorrow, and it's been a long, tiring day. I love you all and will call you tomorrow," I said, wishing them good night.I hung up the call and changed into my night suit. After doing my night routine, I quickly got under my blanket and started thinking about the day.Agastya was all over my mind. He gave me his number—does that mean I should call him? But it would look too desperate to call him now. I'll text him tomorrow. My phone buzzed, and I checked the time. Who was calling me at midnight? The ID was unknown, and I picked it up, confused."Hello, who's this?" I asked."You haven't saved my number yet. I'm hurt," Agastya said.A smile immediately formed on my lips upon hearing his voice."Well, I was talking to my friends and didn't get time to do so," I replied, still smiling, but then I frowned, realizing I never gave him my number. How did he have it?"Umm, Kiara gave me your number," he said.Did I say that out loud?"Umm, yes," he replied, sounding amused."Umm, sorry about that. I don't know why I'm always speaking my thoughts out loud. Anyway, I know Kiara wouldn't have given you my number so easily. So how did you get it?" I asked, curious. Kiara was stubborn, and I knew she wouldn't just hand over my number."Umm, I had to bribe her 10k to get your number," he admitted nervously.I laughed."So basically, this call cost you 10k?" I said, still laughing."Well, just to hear your voice and laugh, I'd pay billions. 10k is a small amount," he said.A blush immediately spread across my cheeks."Aren't you being damn flirty?" I asked him."When it comes to you, I can't hold myself back. I lose control. And since we're on this topic, I just want to apologize for that little hand thing in the dining room. I didn't intend to do that, but after seeing you lose your vocabulary mid-sentence, I thought I'd tease you a little. I'm sorry," Agastya said."Umm, it's fine. You don't need to worry about that," I replied. An awkward silence followed."So, is there a reason you're calling me at midnight?" I finally asked him."Yes, actually. I wanted to ask you out on a date trip. My best friend's brother is getting married next week, and I wanted to invite you to come along. It's for seven days. I really, really want to get to know you better and spend some time with you," he said.Damn it. I had to attend Umang Di's wedding. I would've said yes if I had a clear schedule, but I couldn't ditch my sister. Sisters before misters, always."I'm sorry, Agastya. I'm really busy next week. I have to go out of town for a week," I apologized."It's okay. We can go out when you get back," he said, but I could hear the disappointment in his voice."I'm really sorry, Agastya. But yes, we'll go out soon," I said, feeling bad about letting him down. For some reason, I didn't like hearing the disappointment in his voice."By the way, we can go out after the meeting. I'm coming to your office the day after tomorrow, so we can go out for dinner if you want," I offered, surprising myself with my boldness."Done. We'll go out after the meeting is over," he replied, sounding happier.I smiled again."And I forgot to tell you, you looked beautiful tonight," Agastya said. The blush returned to my cheeks."Thank you, and you looked okay, I guess," I teased him, even though he looked damn hot tonight."Please, you were drooling over me," he said."You wish," I retorted."Accept the truth, honey," he said, making me blush even harder at that word."Anyways, I'm tired and have had a pretty long day. We'll catch up later, I guess," I said, yawning."Okay, Aahana. Good night, and dream about me," he said."You wish," I replied with a smile."Sure do," he said, laughing."Bye, idiot, and good night to you too," I said, ending the call. The smile didn't leave my face as I imagined his.
Oh, Agastya, what are you doing to me? And with that thought, I drifted off to sleep.
