"Are you serious? You came all the way from your house just to give me these chocolates?" I asked him, disbelief clear in my voice. He just nodded, looking down."Are you blushing?" I teased, noticing his cheeks turning red.He didn't say anything, just scratched the back of his head.I smiled at his silliness and immediately pulled him inside my room, locking the balcony door behind us.When I turned around, I saw him admiring my room. While he was busy taking in the details, I made myself comfortable on my bed, sitting cross-legged as I started eating the chocolates."I really like what you've done with your room," he complimented, but I only gave him a smile, too engrossed in my chocolates to reply. As I put a piece of chocolate in my mouth, a soft moan of pleasure escaped my lips."Too soon for that, baby," he teased. The moment I realized what I had just done in front of him, I blushed hard. Embarrassed, I quickly pulled my blanket over my face.I heard him laugh. Then I heard his footsteps. Curiosity got the better of me, and I peeked out from under the blanket. He was sitting in front of me, so close that there was barely any distance between us."Why did you keep cutting my calls?" he asked, and I suddenly remembered what he had said earlier. Anger flared up instantly. I turned my head away, refusing to look at him."Go do that something special for that someone. Why are you here?" I spat, my words laced with irritation. He gently held my chin and turned my face back toward him.But I closed my eyes, unwilling to meet his gaze."Aahana, look at me," he said softly. It was as if his voice had a hypnotic effect on me. I immediately opened my eyes and looked directly into his."I'm with my special one right now," he said, not breaking eye contact.Realizing what he meant, I blushed deeply and playfully smacked his shoulder."You're crazy, you know that, right?" I asked him.He smiled. "Only for you," he said sincerely.I blushed even harder and had to bite my lip to stop myself from blushing more."Ugh, don't do that, please," he groaned."Do what?" I asked, confused."That biting your lip thing—it's driving my hormones crazy," he confessed. And I blushed again. Ugh, what is this guy doing to me? Until two days ago, I hardly ever blushed, and now, in just two days, I've blushed so much my cheeks actually hurt."You look cute when you blush," he said. "But only if it's for me," he added."Possessive much?" I teased him."You have no idea," he said, his voice serious.I looked down and smiled."Thank you for this, Agastya. No one has ever done something like this for me. Thank you so much," I said, suddenly hugging him.He was stiff for a moment, but then I felt him hug me back tightly.I liked this. His embrace was warm and cozy, and his scent was intoxicating. We stayed like that for a little while, just enjoying each other's warmth. Then, slowly, we separated. Just as we did, a yawn escaped my lips.I looked down, embarrassed, then glanced up to see his reaction. He was smiling at me brightly. He gently pulled my cheeks, and I couldn't help but smile a little in return.
He then kissed my forehead and said, "Go to sleep, Aahana. You must be tired. I'll head out now."I smiled at his gesture and stood up to see him off.We walked silently toward the balcony door, and just as he was about to leave, I turned him around and hugged him again."Thank you again, Agastya. It means a lot to me." Then I looked up into his eyes and added, "Drive safe."He nodded and said, "Will do. Good night, and dream about me." He winked, and I shook my head, laughing."In your dreams," I replied, just as I had yesterday."That I do," he said with a smile before heading toward the pipe where I noticed a small ladder he'd used to climb up. I watched as he carefully climbed down, and even after he reached his car, I remained standing on the balcony. He looked up, waved at me, and I waved back. Then he blew me a playful kiss, and I responded by showing him my middle finger, laughing as I did.He pretended to be hurt, but then he smiled at me and drove off. I watched his car until it disappeared down the street, and then I returned to my room with a smile on my face.I placed the bouquet on my nightstand, slipped under my furry blanket, and closed my eyes, with thoughts of Agastya filling my mind and a smile still lingering on my lips. The next morning, I woke up feeling unusually happy, the events of last night replaying in my head.I blushed at the thought of him again. *You're going to be the death of me, Agastya Joshi.*I got out of bed, took a refreshing shower, and headed to my closet. I decided to wear a suit today since I had a meeting at the Joshi company—and I had a date, too.The thought of the date brought a smile to my face.
I wore a classic black and white suit, applying the least amount of makeup. As I headed downstairs, I found everyone sitting at the breakfast table. I kissed Mom and Dad and wished them good morning, then gave Aahan a light smack on the head.
"Oww, what did you do that for?" he asked, rubbing his head.
"That was me wishing you a good morning," I shrugged, feigning innocence.
"Do you have a mental problem?" he shot back.
"Yeah, I do. It's in my genes, but you don't have it because you're adopted," I replied sarcastically.
"You wish I was! I'm the favorite kid, and anyway, you're going to get married and leave soon," he retorted with a smug look on his face.
"Which makes me the favorite for now. And I know you're going to cry like a baby at my bidaai," I replied, matching his smugness.
"I'll be the happiest person at your bidaai. Finally, the house will be peaceful, and I can turn your room into a game room," he said with a grin.
"If you touch my room, I'll cut your balls off and feed them to the dogs," I shot back, a little angrier this time.
"That's enough, kids," Dad said authoritatively. "And no one's going anywhere just yet. Ana's not getting married for at least three more years, and even if she does, no one will touch her room. This house is as much hers as it is yours. But she can turn your room into a beauty parlor if she wants to," Dad added, taking my side with a wink that made me smile.
I stuck my tongue out at Aahan, and he scoffed at me. "No one likes me in this family," he said, pretending to be sad.
"I like you, my baby," Mom said, trying to console him.
"Mom, please stop lying now," I said, rolling my eyes.
"The truth is hard to digest, sistu," Aahan quipped.
"Exactly. Anyway, I'm heading out now; I don't want to be late. Mom, I'll be at the office until the afternoon, then I'll head to the Joshi's for the meeting. Later, I have an event to attend, so I'll come home, get ready, and leave again. I'll be out late and won't be having dinner tonight," I informed Mom, as was my routine.
My parents never restricted me from going anywhere or staying out late. They just made sure I was safe, and I always kept Mom informed about my schedule so she knew my whereabouts. I didn't want to tell them about my date with Agastya—I wasn't sure about it yet, and if I mentioned it to Mom, she'd probably start planning my wedding before we even made things official.
"Bye, beta. Have a good day, and remember to eat properly," Mom said, giving me a warm smile.
I kissed her and Dad on the cheek, then smacked Aahan's head again for good measure. He got up angrily, but I was already sprinting towards my car.
I started the engine and sped out of the driveway. I reached the office in no time and dove straight into work. Before I knew it, it was time to leave for the meeting with the Joshi family.
