Aahana pov-

The next day, I woke up early, did my morning routine, and reached the office on time, knowing it would be a hectic day. I was so busy that I didn't even get a chance to have lunch—just four cups of coffee to keep me going. I submitted my one-week leave application, and my boss approved it without hesitation, understanding that I wouldn't request time off unless it was urgent. I worked so hard that I didn't get home until 11 at night. As I unlocked the door, I saw my mom and dad sitting on the couch, waiting for me."I told Mom I'd be late. Why are you two still up?" I asked, slipping off my sandals and jacket."Well, you know your father can't sleep without knowing you're home safe, and I know for a fact that you haven't eaten anything since morning," Mom said, reading me like a book."Yeah, I know. I'll have something now." I headed to the dining table, where, as expected, a plate of food was waiting for me, courtesy of Mom.I quickly heated my dinner and joined them in the living room."Why do you work so much, beta? I'm worried about you," Dad said, with concern on his face."Dad, you don't need to worry about me. I had to work extra today because I'm taking a week off, and someone has to look after you. That 'idiot' isn't going to cut it," I said, stifling a laugh."Hey! I'm not old—I'm still young. Even now, if I put on jeans and a shirt and stand outside the house, all the girls will fall at my feet," Dad boasted.Mom and I burst out laughing."Alright, I'll bring you a shirt and jeans, and we'll see a little demo of girls falling at your feet," Mom teased, still laughing."Well, it's late now. I'll show you tomorrow. Ana, finish your food and get some rest. Good night, love," Dad said as he leaned down to kiss my forehead. Mom followed suit."Good night, Mom and Dad. See you tomorrow," I replied. Later I headed to my room after finishing my meal.As soon as I got to my room, I checked my phone. I hadn't looked at it all day. I saw two missed calls from Kiara and one text message from an unknown number.I decided to call Kiara tomorrow since it was already late and opened the text message."Miss me today?"I immediately knew it was Agastya and saved his number."Would it hurt your ego if I said no?" I replied, biting my lip.I saw him typing, so I set my phone aside and quickly changed into a crop top and shorts."Finally, I got a reply. Where were you all day?""And now you're not even texting back.""Are you mad at me?""Did I do something?"I decided to play along."Yes, you did. 🙄" I replied. My phone rang immediately—it was him."Well, aren't you making this goodnight call a habit?" I teased as I answered."What did I do?" He sounded genuinely curious."For starters, I didn't get any beautiful flowers or delicious chocolates as a date invitation," I said, Waiting for his reaction."Well, no flower compares to your beauty, and I was saving the chocolates for tomorrow. But wait 30 to 40 minutes, and I'll be there with your chocolates, ma'am," he replied.I knew he was lying. He wouldn't come all the way here just to bring me chocolates."And what should I do for the next 30–40 minutes?" I asked, playing along."You can talk to me," he suggested."Honestly, I have better things to do," I teased him."What better things?" he inquired, amused."Well, I could watch a movie, or better yet, I could watch *Friends*," I said."Don't tell me you're a *Friends* fan," he asked."Of course I am, and if you're going to say you don't like that show, then I'm sorry, but I'll have to cancel our date tomorrow and block your number," I warned him."What is there to like in that show? I mean, six people with adult problems? And that laugh track is irritating.""Are you serious? *Friends* is one of the best TV series ever made because it shows the reality of life. I love that it demonstrates how friends don't have to be like-minded, have the same job, or even go to the same college. The show illustrates that friendship can thrive even when people come from entirely different backgrounds. The acting is fantastic, and the script is what made the show a hit, in my opinion. The jokes, the moral values—everything was innovative and unique. Personally, Chandler is my favorite because his jokes and sarcasm are spot-on. Do you want more reasons, or is this enough?" I could talk about *Friends* forever."Damn, girl, you're one crazy fan. But you've still not convinced me to watch it," he said."What if we watch it together?" I asked shyly."Now you've totally convinced me," he replied, making me smile. There was something about him. I never talk to strangers, yet here I was, chatting with a guy I'd just met yesterday for the past 25 minutes."Doesn't this feel strange to you? We just met yesterday, and today we're talking so comfortably," I asked him."Honestly, Aahana, I don't talk to girls much, but there's something special about you. I never initiate conversations, not even with my friends, but you're different," he said, making me blush again. He was so damn sweet. Then I heard some noise in the background."Are you out?" I asked, wondering what he was doing at this hour."Yeah, I wanted to do something special for someone," he said. And just like that, my heart sank. He liked someone else. Of course, he liked someone else. He was just playing with me. Tears welled up in my eyes."Okay, I'm tired. Good night," I said, cutting the call immediately, not wanting to hear his reply. He called again, but I cut it off directly. My phone buzzed once more, and I declined the call again. I didn't want to talk to him anymore. But why was I crying over a guy I'd just met yesterday? Then I heard a knocking sound from my balcony. I ignored it, thinking it was nothing, but then I heard it again. My heart raced. Was it a thief? Or worse, a killer with a knife? How did this person get onto my balcony? The knocking continued. I grabbed a pepper spray in one hand and a hockey stick in the other. My plan was to spray the intruder in the eyes and then beat them with the hockey stick. I could do this.I approached the balcony door cautiously, opened it, and was about to spray when I saw a cute bouquet with Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
