"So, everyone's good for my house Saturday after football practice?" Chase asks, and we all nod. He smirks a little as he looks around at our group of four, his eyes lingering on his boyfriend. "Great. Nate, Levi, you guys should probably prepare to be completely ignored, if not left alone altogether."
"Then, why don't you just have Jordan over?" Nate asks, which I have to admit is a pretty valid question. Chase smirks and kisses his boyfriend's temple.
"Because we'd feel bad for excluding you."
"You'll technically be excluding us anyways, if you're going to be shunning and/or ditching us," Nate points out.
"Well, would you really want to be included in our steamy, passionate-"
"Jordan, please control your boyfriend," I groan, covering my ears. Jordan grins and turns Chase's head towards him for a kiss, before turning back to me, smirking a little.
"How's that?"
I roll my eyes, and when I glance at Nate, he's doing the same. We share a small smile, before turning back to the couple sitting at the table across from us. They're kissing again, and I'm tempted to remind them that we're in public. Specifically, Fatburger, which is fortunately only a few minutes away from the school, allowing us to make use of it during lunch hour.
"Guys," Nate says, which does absolutely nothing in terms of getting them to stop. "Guys. We're in public. Tone down the PDA."
Chase pulls away from Jordan, looking smug. "Why? Does it make you uncomfortable, token straight person?"
Nate rolls his eyes. "I'm desensitized to your grossness. And for the record, I consider you to be nauseating because you shove your tongues down each others' throats, not because you're both guys."
"Don't worry, we know you're not homophobic," Jordan reassures Nate, which causes Nate to give him a small smile. My heart jumps a bit.
"Good. Now, here's an idea for this weekend: since you guys are just going to end up ditching Levi and I anyways, why don't we go out somewhere?"
I nearly have a heart attack. "'Why don't we go out'?"
"Just you two?" Chase says, looking very pleased with this idea. I can only stare at Nate, trying to hold off on hoping for anything. Nate blinks.
"No, I meant all four of us. Like, to a club or something."
Jordan frowns a little, looking at Nate, but doesn't say anything. Chase is the one who responds. "Okay, but if Jordan and I are going to leave anyways, why don't you and Levi just go together?"
I have to resist the urge to smack him. He's trying to get us on what would essentially be viewed as a date when he knows that Nate is straight. Fortunately, Nate doesn't even bother responding to that. He just looks at Jordan. Chase narrows his eyes at Nate, then at his boyfriend sitting next to him. Jordan looks a little sheepish.
"Actually... I wouldn't mind. Going to a club."
I may not be able to communicate telepathically with Chase like Nate and Jordan can, but I don't need to in order to see the flicker of fear across Chase's face. Which is fair, considering Jordan used to go clubbing regularly and usually end up hooking up with tons of girls who he then ditched. As his boyfriend, it's completely valid that Chase would be a little concerned at hearing Jordan say he'd want to go to a club this weekend.
Jordan clearly sees the flicker of fear as well, and his eyes widen a little. "I- Chase, just for fun. No hooking up with girls. Or boys. No one other than you, I promise. I promise."
