"Yeah, right. Is it because she's damn in love?" Tanong ni Ivan.
"In love or not, Iya looks stunning anyway," Chad said, butting in the conversation.
"Agreed!" Matthew added.
"Excuse me," Biglang sulpot ni Elli at agad akong inakbayan.
"Are you talking to my girl?"
"She's mine," He said with emphasis.
"Pota," Reklamo ni Ivan at bigla namang padabog na binato ni Leo ang hawak niyang utensil.
"Sayo nga lang," Matthew said before walking away.
"What's with the attitude?" Tanong ni Elli habang unti unting umaalis ang mga kaibigan namin kaya hindi ko naman mapigilang matawa.
"Ikaw kaya 'tong attitude," Sabi ko naman.
"Bat ba? Eh totoo namang akin ka eh," He said.
"Yo, lovebirds mag sisimula na tayo," Tawag ni Leo.
I sip from my can of beer as Elli and I approach the squad to form a circle. I'm sitting between Elli and Chad while Elisse is facing me.
"Should I start?" Excited na tanong ni Elisse habang hawak ang isang maliit na box.
"So my lucky monita is my Naddy," She said excitedly which made me surprised.
"Hell no," I said since I know her gift would be as crazy as she is.
"Merry Christmas Naddy," She said before handing me a small box.
"I really don't feel good about this," I said as I start unwrapping the gift.
"Holy moly," Cheska commented the moment I opened the box.
"I can't accept this," I said referring to the car key inside the box.
"Come on, Naddy. It's not just from me. It's also from dad, mom, and Elli," Sabi niya kaya naman napatingin ako kay Elli na nakangiti lang habang nakatingin sakin.
"You deserve it," He said.
"You are our family Naddy, in case you forgot," She said that made me teary-eyed.
"I think you are the epitome of optimism, beauty, and kindness. I witnessed how you lived your life alone and yet you become more than what I expected. I really do believe that you will be so much more in the future, Naddy. Merry Christmas," She said and I can't stop but run to her to hug her tight.
"Merry Christmas," She whispered as she hugs me tighter.
"Well, for the new faces, it has been our annual tradition wherein instead of just exchanging gifts, we also exchange compliments to our monito and monita," Cheska explains as I go back to my seat.
"We do that every Christmas," Dagdag ni Leo.
"That's cool," Kelly replied with a smile on her face.
"It's your turn Iya," Sabi ni Charry kaya naman napahawak ako sa regalo na binili ko para kay Chad.
"Oh," Sabi ko at nahihiyang iniabot kay Chad ang regalo ko.
I'm fucking embarrassed. I fucking hate the transition from a car key to a cheap watch.
"Wow, thank you Iya," He said with his eyes sparkling.
