"No!" Donghyuck shouted, throwing his controller down dramatically. Mark just laughed at him, watching as his avatar died again in League of Legends. "God damn it."
"You kinda suck Hyuckie."
"I do not! Watch out by the way." Mark ducked the projectile and looked over at his best friend, noticing how Donghyuck's hair was now a mess from him running his fingers through it. He always liked the times Donghyuck slept over, because Mark always stopped him from straightening his hair and that resulted in Donghyuck's hair being what Donghyuck described as a curly mess, but Mark, as he looked at it for what could very well be the millionth time realised how he would describe it.
Cute.
Fuck.
"What?" Donghyuck asked, and Mark realised he had just sworn out loud and at seeming random. "You died."
"I know," Mark groaned, pretending that was the reason he swore. "I can't believe it."
"You're just as bad as me then!" Donghyuck cheered, and Mark gasped.
"Take that back!"
"No!" Donghyuck laughed, sticking his tongue out and gasping when Mark moved to tickle him. "Oh no you don't I will kick you again." Donghyuck managed in one breath, but Mark didn't listen. Instead, Mark tackled the smaller boy, who wheezed dramatically as Mark put all his body weight on top of him. "You're killing me."
"Softly," Mark replied teasingly, and Donghyuck rolled his eyes.
"You're suffocating me and all you can do is reference a manhwa. Nice."
"If you can talk you're not suffocating."
In response, Donghyuck made strangled noises and Mark finally rolled off of him, not realising the edge of the couch was right there and rolling off the couch as well.
Donghyuck just laughed as Mark groaned, peeking over the edge of the couch with a wide smile crinkling his eyes and chuckles escaping his throat. "You're so mean Hyuck," Mark sighed, and
Donghyuck stuck out his tongue in response."That's for saying I suck!"
"I said you kinda suck, the kinda negates the harshness you know that."
"Wow. I feel so loved by that." Donghyuck sighed dramatically, and Mark scoffed.
"Do you want pizza or bad chinese food for dinner?"
"Let's do those homemade pizzas."
"We are not handmaking pizza again, half the dough was raw last time and the other half was burnt."
"That's because you cooked them Mark." Donghyuck grinned, and Mark groaned, getting up to ruffle Hyuck's hair playfully.
"Ya, who's the older one here?"
"Mentally me. Physically -"
"Not even mentally!" Mark exclaimed, and Donghyuck puffed his cheeks as Mark went to ruffle his hair. "I'm kidding Hyuckie," Mark said, and Donghyuck let Mark ruffle his hair, Donghyuck closing his eyes and smiling a little. Mark took a second to admire Donghyuck's face, then zeroed in on his hand in Hyuck's hair. How, even after Donghyuck went through mental crises and dyed his hair many times over, was it still soft?
"You're making me sleepy," Donghyuck groaned softly, and Mark laughed.
"Sorry."
"No issokay," Donghyuck slurred, obviously already tired.
"Did dance practice take that much out of you?" Mark teased, and Donghyuck shrugged in response.
"We danced for four hours," Donghyuck whined. "And it wasn't an easy dance, we only stopped because Yerim rolled her ankle the wrong way."
"Damn," Mark muttered, carding his fingers through Donghyuck's hair and really only half listening because he was distracted by Donghyuck leaning over to rest his head on Mark's lap. It's not like it hadn't happened before, but Mark felt electricity running through his system everywhere Hyuck touched.
"Are we going to get food or are you just going to lull me to sleep," Hyuck murmured, and Mark laughed.
"I'll order two pizzas. What do you want?"
"Pepperoni and bulgogi with gochujang sauce and wasabi ranch dipping sauce," Dongyuck muttered and Mark nodded, writing it down on his phone to call it in. "And a shrimp, sausage, and bacon one with creamy garlic sauce on it and onions and peppers."
"You're really going to make me break the bank huh?" Mark teased, and Donghyuck opened his eyes to look up at Mark sleepily.
"You're the one who invited me over."
"You also walked in, said hi to my mom, then came busting in saying I said I was lonely and wanted you over. I just texted you if you wanted to play games," Mark laughed, dialling the pizza place they always bought from.
After he placed the order - they needed the breadsticks too, and the cheese powder, and the pickles, and the brownies that were weirdly amazing from Chitaprr's, where they always got their pizzas - he hung up the phone and opened his mouth to tell Donghyuck the food was coming.
Instead he was met with Donghyuck's sleeping face, his mouth open and eyes closed as he softly snored in Mark's lap. "Seriously?" Mark asked no one, and received no answer.
Mark didn't move, just instead kept carding his fingers through Hyuck's hair and smiling softly as he watched Donghyuck shift a little, snuggling closer to Mark as Mark watched. "You're so cute," Mark murmured, gently tracing over Donghyuck's face.
He was beautiful, at least in Mark's eyes. He wanted to hold him in his arms and play with his hair, the two of them face to face. Mark could do this though, just admire him.
He never really took the time to look at Donghyuck - sure, he knew Donghyuck's personality like a playbook he'd had since he was four and Hyuck was three - but their appearances had shifted so quickly since the last year of middle school until now that honestly, Mark hadn't paid too much attention.
Now that he was paying attention, he could see that Donghyuck's cheeks had lost some of their chubbiness that Mark loved to pinch when they were alone, his jawline had become more defined, and all in all, he'd grown into his features more than Mark could say he had done himself."Wake up," Mark blurted out, realising his fingers were getting dangerously close to tracing Donghyuck's lips over and over again out of their own free will and he was leaning down to do - what he didn't know, but he didn't want to do it with Donghyuck not awake. "Hyuckie wake up."
"Markie, I don't wanna," Donghyuck moaned, and Mark felt his head drop to his feet. That was kind of hot?
No.
No it wasn't.
Mark took a deep breath and shook Donghyuck's shoulder, making the tanned boy crack an eyelid. "No."
"Yes, the pizza is almost here."
"Pull a Red Velvet and murder him," Donghyuck yawned, still spewing nonsense seeing as he was half asleep.
"No. Get up." Mark responded, and Donghyuck grumbled, sitting up just as the doorbell rang. "By the way, if you're not up fully before I get back, I will eat your brownie."
Needless to say, Donghyuck was wide awake by the time Mark came back with the pizza, and Mark was just trying to figure out his confused feelings as Donghyuck demolished half of each pizza, most of the breadsticks, and the brownie.
