                              Step 4-Keep yourself busy
I was beyond excited because today was Thursday. I found myself a part time job as part of my 'rehabilitation'. I was thinking that maybe it will keep me busy enough to keep my mind off of Logan. Of course, I didn't tell my dad about this because I know he'll object and only get mad at me.
Yesterday, June, Rebecca, and I went job hunting after school. It didn't take us long enough to find a part time job that's easy enough for me to manage. We applied at a café not too far away from school. We'll work at the café every Tuesday and Thursday from five to eight at night.
After I dressing up in dark jeans and a dark-blue pull over, I said 'I love you' to my dad and drove my scooter off to school. The parking space near the café was small so bringing my car wouldn't be wise. And I missed driving my Vespa too.
As the day went by, I noticed that whenever my gaze passed through Gavin, he was looking at me too. And he also smiled at me most of the time. And sometimes he sits beside me or somewhere close to me. Oh my, gosh! Was he stalking me? That comment was a little exaggerated, though. But if he was stalking me, I did not really mind. Gavin was cute and funny. And he and I had been classmates—if not schoolmates—since fifth grade, so that kinda makes us friends—I hope.
When school was over, my friends and I went directly to the café and changed into uniforms.
I thought this day's going to be A-Okay, but I was wrong. An hour before closing time, two not familiar faces dropped by the café. Unfortunately, it was Stacey and Logan. They made their way to the chair on the farthest corner of the café. My heart ached as I watched the two giggle and chat.
"Hey, aren't you going to get their orders?" I almost dropped the mug I was wiping because I was startled by my manager, who was apparently standing behind me. I sighed and reluctantly went to their table.
Why is Fate doing this to me? I was on the state of rehab and Fate decided it was funny to send them here, and slap me with the hurtful fact. As I watched them, I noticed Logan looked happy with Stacey. I forced a smile as I approached their table.
"Hello Ma'am, Sir, what are your orders?" I said, trying to conceal the pain with the warm, waitress smile.
Stacey's eyes widened when she saw me and Logan looked more surprised and agitated. "Joanne? You're working here? What happened? Are you broke now?" Stacey asked.
I shook my head, laughing lightly. I really did find her comment funny. "No, we're not broke. I just feel like working part-time. June and Becca are with me too," I said then repeated my question eaerlier, "So, what's your orders?"
Stacey turned back to her menu and said, "We'll have an extra-large Choco Frappuccino. Put two straws in it please. We'll share." Then smiled at me.
Before I could even take that down, "No!" Logan quickly said, "Just two regulars would do." Then frowned at Stacey. Okay, now what do they really want? I repeated what Logan said. Stacey just pouted and remained silent while Logan nodded in agreement.
After I got their orders, I delivered it to their table, "Here's two Choco-Frapps for the sweet couple. Enjoy." I said.
One thing that I learned in life was that when you say something, it gets more real and more believable, even for you. So with all my might, I spat out those last three words, because I wanted to really convince myself that they are really dating. Logan was about to say something but I turned my back and went to the counter.
June and Becca just smirked, "Sweet couple? Really?" June said mockingly. I just rolled my eyes at her, not wanting to talk about it.
Stacey and Logan left after they finished what they ordered, then we closed the café since it was already eight pm. After that, I went straight home and June drove Becca home.
Before I turned off the lights in my room, I received a text from two unregistered numbers. The first message is:
                              Fr: ***********
Hey Joanne! It's me Gavin. Can't wait for tomorrow night. ^^
PS. I got your number from June.
                              Good night. :)
Seriously? June gave my number to a guy without asking my permission. And why didn't Gavin ask me himself?
Then the other message was just saying that I should vote for Stacey for Student Body President.  How will I not vote for Stacey if there's no other candidate? I mentally replied to it.
Sighing, I saved Gavin's number and replied.
                              To: Gavin
Can't wait! Haha! It's your treat right? XD Just Kidding. Anyway, good night Gavin. ^^
After that, I turned off the lights and went to dreamland.
                              A/N
