"Sami saved my life!"

"Sami is amazing!"

"I'll kill whoever this 'sami' is."

"I've heard he's cute."

"I think she's a tough woman."

"They need to keep to themselves before they get killed."

Hanta's pov

"Okay, fine, maybe the bitch wasn't as crazy as we thought." I held my hands up in surrender as the others looked at me, a brow raised. "Im just sayin' I think these people need to lay off the cheap stuff. That's some weird shit."

"How do you not believe them, Hanta? It's all anyone talks about. Sami is like, the savior of the apocalypse apparently." Kumi rested her hand on my arm and I grabbed it, holding on gently.

"I guess I'm just tired of having hope only to find out It's fake or not worth it." Shrugging, I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to me. Mina hummed quietly in the silence.

"Maybe It's good to have a little hope. I mean, it can't do any harm, right?" She looked around and most people nodded. Todoroki spoke from his spot beside Shouji.

"Hope gets you in a place where you only fall farther once you lose that hope.....Speaking from experience I mean." He ate the last bit of his food before tossing the can to the ground. "Hope sucks."

"And how could You possibly know that? Hope can be good-!" Mina tried to cheer him up, but he interrupted her.

"Because I used to have hope that one day I'd be saved from my abusive father, but no matter how many hints I dropped, or even told someone straight up, they never believed me because my father was a rich and highly decorated cop!" He was standing by now, arms crossed over his chest and anger in his eyes. "It took a fucking zombie apocalypse for me to get out of it, so don't give your little hope shit speech to me." He turned and walked to one of the campers, climbing on top and sitting.

"Oh...um, should I go apologize...?" She looked around and Hagakure shook her head.

"He'll get over it. He probably feels bad right about now for yelling at you." She smiled at her girlfriend and kissed her rosy cheek.

"Okay, so back to Sami-"

"No!"

Everyone yelled at Izuku and he held his hand up with a laugh.

"Sorry, sorry. Just had to break the tension a little. You could hear a pin drop."

"Yeah, well shut the fuck up 'Zuku. Bedtime." Katsuki stood and smacked the back of Izuku's head, earning a whine.

"What are you, our dad?" The blonde looked to me and raised a brow.

"Might as fucken' well be. You all act like children sometimes. Get your asses to bed." He pointed to the campers and we all stood, making our way to the vehicles. I hooked my arm around Kumi's shoulders and helped her up the steps. She's had a small fever, but I'm sure it'll go down with some food and some rest.

As we got in, I sat her at the small table and dug around the cabinets for some bread and peanut butter. Making four sandwiches, I gave two to Ojiro and Shouji, keeping one for me and the last for Kumi. We ate in mostly silence until she spoke up.

"Should be soon now. I can feel the baby dropping lower." I nodded slowly before grabbing her hand.

"I'll be there. I promise. I won't leave your side for a second." Squeezing her hand, I smiled and she nodded. Soon we were making our way to the bedroom, where Ojiro and Shouji were cuddled up reading a book together in one bed. We took the other and I pressed close to her back, flipping our lamp off.

Perks of solar power.

I fell asleep in a good mood, but I was not ready for the week of tears and truths ahead.

It's been a few days and Kumi says it could only be a few more until she gives birth, but her fever is getting worse by the day. As she lay in the bed, blankets covering her so she wouldn't shiver so harshly, she grabbed my hand, getting my attention. I focused solely on her, squeezing her hand.

"When I had my first son," she mumbled, "the doctors told me I had a 87 percent chance of dying if I had another kid." She paused to take a breath and I nodded slowly, feeling tears start to well in my eyes. "I'm doing this without any doctors or medical equipment, Hanta."

"Kumi.." My voice broke and her hand came to brush away the tears on my cheeks.

"I'm not going to make it. I know I'm not and you should be ready for that too. But I want to ask you a favor." She swallowed and I nodded, holding her hand tightly.

"Okay. Yeah, sure. anything." She smiled softly.

"I want you to take care of them. Protect and raise them. Will you do that for me?" She was tired and weak, breath ragged and face flushed, but I sniffled and nodded once more.

"Of course I will. And I'll love them like my own. Do you have a name for them yet?" She smiled softly and brought my hand to her stomach, where I could feel the baby kick my palm. She spoke and everytime she breathed in sounded like a wheeze.

"This is your baby now. You name them whatever feels right for you. Understand me?" Her own eyes welled with tears and I brushed them away before doing the same to my own. I let out a small sob and sniffled before bending down to hug her.

"Of course. I'll take good care of them. I'll sacrifice myself before anything bad happens to them." She patted my back and I felt a small, motherly kiss be placed on the top of my head.

"And I'll make sure to tell Denki that you're gonna be such a good dad when I get there." I stayed quiet, save for my sniffles, and held her close until she eventually fell asleep and I stopped crying.
