The following morning Nick is trying to wake Melissa up when she pushes him off of her and onto the floor.
Meanwhile, Cassie is avoiding conversation with her grandmother. Once she gets to school she meets up with the Meade twins. "Why can't I tell my grandmother? Maybe she can help us.", asks the blonde.
Diana questions, "What if she tells our dad or any of our parents? Then what?" "I have no idea what. You tell me."
Evie looks at the blonde, "They've lied to us our whole lives. They obviously don't want us to know anything. And if they find out we do, this might all be taken away." Cassie questions, "Our magic? How?"
The ypunger Meade continues, "One of the last entries in our book talks about our parents' circle being punished for their actions..." Diana adds, "Having their powers stripped away."
"By who?" The twins answer, "The book refers to the elders." "We think that means the generation before."
Cassie says realizing something, "Like my grandmother. So she still has her powers?" "We think so.", they say at the same time.
Diana adds, "All the more reason not to tell her we're practicing it" Cassie sighs, "I hate lying. I'm supposed to have dinner with her later. Another night of pretending to be someone I'm not."
"We get it, believe us." say the twins together once again, at this point Cassie was beginning to get used to them doing that. Evie adds leaving the blonde wondering, "But the answers we all want about what happened 16 years ago, what if exposing ourselves means we never find out?"
Through the corner of her eye Evie sees Jason approaching them and she tells the two girls with her, "Talking about pretending to be someone you are not... I have to go. I'll see you guys later."
Once Evie walks away from the two girls Diana also goes her own way. In the hallway she bumps into Faye who says, "Oh, your dad's here. You or Evie are probably getting expelled." Diana turns to her and asks "You don't know?"
"Know what?" "Our parents are dating. It's cute, huh?", Diana says with a big smile before walking towards the two adults.
Reaching the classroom door Evie realizes she forgot her book in the locker so she turns to Jason, "I forgot my book. I'm going to go get it. Save me a seat please." before heading back down the hall.
As she's walking she hears noise further down, which makes her walk faster. When she gets there she sees Melissa on the floor with Nick next to her, she rushes forward and says, "Oh, my God. Are you guys okay? I heard some screaming." Melissa gets up and says, "Nick. Eves.", the Meade girl visibly flinches at the nickname, Nick focusing his attention on the other girl says, "Yeah, Nick. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. But I need to tell you something. In private." she says before turning to Evie.
Evie nods giving them a small and slightly forced smile, "Right, I'm going. Just wanted to make sure you were okay. I'll see you guys later"
