A couple of days later Evie is sitting with Melissa and Faye at the Java Brew, Melissa is talking about how tragic it is what happened to Adam and Cassie. The blonde girl approaches the three with their mugs of coffee and they talk until the Conant boy comes up to the four girls, "I forgot to ask you. All of you, actually. You want to earn some deep appreciation and make a little money on the side?"
Faye looks at him and says, "You lost me at appreciation.", the boy continues, "The hockey team is having their awards dinner at the boathouse tomorrow, and I need extra services. What do you think?"
Cassie awkwardly says, "I'd love to, but I'm a little waitressed out. Thanks, though.", then walks away leaving Adam confused, but he continues to persuade Faye and Melissa, given the fact that Evie and Diana were already helping him.
"Come on. What about you guys? Seriously. My dad can't be there, and I need some extra hands."
"Is he okay?", asks Evie to which Adam answers, "My dad? Oh, I think so. I don't know. He's just been... kind of freaked out since Cassie's dad showed up. Yeah, he's actually a mess. And I lost a girlfriend, Jake almost died, and the witch hunters are more excited about killing us than ever. So it's real fun having Blackwell back from the dead."
Melissa then gives in, "I'll do it. Boys hockey team? That might be fun.", when Adam turns to Faye she says, "I'm not into slave labor."
"It's $10 an hour, plus a basket of chicken wings." "Eww. 15."
"Done. Thank you. I appreciate it." Melissa then says to her friends, once Adam walked away, "The poor guy. Cassie can't even be around him. It's tragic."
"Tragic is not asking for 20." Evie then laughs at Faye's remark, throwing her head back slightly.
The following morning Diana, Evie, Melissa and Faye are setting up the boathouse for the hockey team's dinner.
When they go outside to get the things from the car Evie tells Faye to get a big item and Faye complains with her friends giving her teasing smiles.
When they get inside Melissa ends up helping Faye and Evie helps Diana. Both twins are setting up the table when Adam walks in front of them and tells Diana, "For you."
"What is that?" "It's ginger ale. Compliments of some guy I've never seen before who insisted that if it couldn't be champagne, it at least needed to be served in this glass.", both twins look behind Adam to see the familiar Australian, causing both twins to grow smiles on their faces, for different reasons, and Diana corrects Adam, "Flute, actually."
"Wait who is he?" "Grant."
"And?" "And I think I should thank him."
Evie looks at her sister walking away, then turns to the boy in front of her, "You should be happy for her. He makes her smile.", then she focuses back on what she was doing, not letting the boy respond.
