Evie and Jake had been driving for about two days when they finally arrived in Salem, Massachusetts. The couple was quick to rent a hotel room in order for them to get some much needed rest, they had been taking turns driving since they left Chance Harbor and the drive as much as the situation they had gone through before leaving had taken a toll on the teens.
Once inside the room Evie took a shower first and as she walked out of the bathroom Jake took his turn. When the Armstrong boy walked out of the bathroom he saw Evie sitting on the bed, her back towards him.
He carefully walked towards the bed and sat behind her, kissing her shoulder blade, "What's going on in that beautiful head of yours?"
Evie sighs and turns around showing him her right hand, "It just... showed up, out of nowhere."
Seeing her crestfallen face he cupped his hands on her face, "Hey, look at me. Everything's gonna be okay. We will get through this Eves. Together."
"Promise me one thing, Jake. Promise you'll help me find a way to get rid of this, even if it means getting rid of all my powers."
"Evie--" "No. You don't understand. This magic... this dark magic, the way it feels. I never want to feel that way again, ever. So I need you to promise me that we'll do whatever we can-- whatever we have to in order to find a way to get rid of it. We grew up not knowing anything about our powers, if that's what it takes to get rid of this... then I'm willing to be just my mundane self. Before magic... before Cassie... before my dad... I just want my life back. So promise me. Promise you'll help."
Jake wipes her tears away as he presses his lips against hers, "I would do anything for you."
The newly turned 17 year old and the 19 year old got under the covers of the hard hotel bed, Jake wrapped an arm around Evie's waist, bringing her body closer to his as they both drifted off to sleep.

The bright light of the morning sun hit Evie straight on her face the following morning making her shut her eyes tighter not wanting to wake up. When she opened her eyes she looked to her left to see Jake still fast asleep, as carefully as possible she moved his arm off her and tiptoed towards her bag.
Evie chose some clean clothes and grabbed her toothbrush before walking towards the bathroom. Once she was out of the bathroom she noticed that Jake was still in a deep slumber. She put on her booties, grabbed her phone and a cardigan before writing her boyfriend a small note in case she wasn't back by the time he woke up.
Went to library. Be back soon. I love you.
She then walked out of the room making sure not to accidentally wake up the blonde boy as she began her journey in search of the library building.
