In the small town of Chance Harbor, Genevieve Meade, better known as 'Evie', lives with her father and twin sister Diana. The twins and some fellow classmates discover an exciting secret about themselves, they are witches. With the new arrival of Ca...
The days leading up to Nick's wake had been hard on everyone in the circle. Evie had been a little distracted and some would say detached. She had quit the cheer team claiming she just didn't have the time anymore. No one pushed her to talk about it, they knew she had history with the boy and that the last couple of years they hardly spoke. Therefore they decided to just leave her to herself. Now she sits with Diana on her bed looking through pictures helping Diana find a picture to take to the wake, when Charles appears on the doorway.
"Girls?" "Hey, daddy.", they both say simultaneously. "I'm gonna go into the office for a few hours today. I won't be long. What's that?" he asks Dianna who was holding a picture in her hand. "People are bringing photos of Nick to the wake. I didn't think I had any. We weren't great friends. But Evie reminded me of this. That's the three of us isn't it?"
"Yeah, when Nick was little, he used to come and look at the boats. Sometimes I'd take you three out for a spin" Fondly Evie smiles and says, "I remember. He loved it, but he was scared. He just clung to your arm. I don't understand. That's his whole life? That's all he gets?"
Diana rubs her back and then Charles hugs them in comfort. Then he whispers, "I wish I had answers for you, but..."

That afternoon Diana and Evie are at the boathouse putting Nick's wake together with Adam and his dad when Cassie walks in. She goes up to the three teens, "You guys are putting all this together?", asks the blonde getting a response from the older Meade "Nick's aunt left town to stay with family. There's no one else."
"Well, his brother Jake is in town, and we need to talk about him." On instinct Evie froze for a second and her sister as well as Adam's gaze quickly fell on her, before Adam said, "Jake's back?" Evie then, instinctively defended the Armstrong boy, "He's not gonna miss his brother's funeral, Adam.", giving her a look of disbelief he said, "Yeah, he would. Guy didn't care about anyone but himself."
Evie just looked down at his comment. Cassie, oblivious to the sudden tension, asked, "He's really that awful?" Diana then added, "He used to work at the boathouse."
"My dad gave him a job when no one else would. And then he robs the place one night after work. He stole everything my dad had." "They almost lost the boathouse. Adam hasn't forgiven him for that." "No." finalizes the boy before walking away.
Cassie then looks at how detached Evie was and asks Diana, "What about Evie? What's her deal with him?" glancing at her twin she answered, "Evie dated him for a while. He then cheated on her and left town. She was heartbroken. I don't think she's quite forgiven him either. Anyway, what were you going to say about Jake?"
"He completes the circle." A few tables down Faye sat with Melissa. She was catching the girl up on what she had missed at school. "Amy Leone stood up in English lit yesterday and read this tragic poem she wrote about Nick, something about thrones and a rose or vine. Horrid. The whole thing was pretty hilarious.", disinterested the girl says "Yeah." Faye then drinks some of her tea when she sees someone walking in through the window, "oh, my God." "What?" "Jake Armstrong is here." when he walks in she tries to cover herself with her hand.
