"I love you Rosie. Stay safe and have a great year!"
My mum, the Hermione Granger, hugged me and kissed me on my forehead. My father, Ronald Weasley, then swept me up into a bone crushing hug. "Remember to be nice to Albus, Rosie. Him and your uncle aren't on great terms right now."
I then saw him. My cousin, the messy haired green eyed son of Harry potter. I tried to start a conversation.
"Hey, Al? I want to be friends again. no more of this... hostility we have going on."
"We never were friends." He started glowering at me. "that's harsh, you were my best friend when I was six!" I countered
"well, that was a long time ago, wasn't it?" Just then Albus's best friend, Scorpius Malfoy, walked up to us. "Rose, you smell like bread." He said. I paused. Bread?
I left him feeling frustrated and confused. What kind of person just brushes an attempt at reconciliation off? And, as a side note, I smelled like bread? I left them to sit with my best friend, Alice Longbottom. She looked so excited, holding her young hellebore plant inside its cute little pot. We then started discussing our summers, and her's sounded like a blast. She had gone to a greenhouse with her dad in London, wheras mine had mostly been writing a book. I am a writer, but I never have had the courage to share my stories.
Then we heard a loud noise that seemed to be coming from the top of our compartment. We then heard some explosions and someone yelling. Then it was quiet. We sat in worried silence for the rest of the journey.
When we hit the Hogsmeade station, I was ready to try again with Albus. I left the compartment and walked over to the one that Albus and Scorpius had shared, and found no one. "That's weird..." I mumbled to myself. I told himself that he must have got off earlier than I had. I walked outside to hear Hagrid's booming voice beckoning the first years to him.
"Firs' years! Firs' years over here!"
"Hagrid!" I ran over to him, and he pulled me into a bone crushing embrace.
"Rosie! Yer excited for fourth year I'd suspect?" I thought for a moment about Albus. He generally was over by the carriages with Scorpius, talking and laughing. I was getting worried.
"Rosie?" I snapped out of my thoughts for a moment.
"Oh, yeah, I'm very excited." Where was Albus?
Alice then walked up to me and said, "Rose, I found an empty carriage." I followed her in an almost trancelike state.
I could barely eat anything at the feast, I was too worried. After the feast, Professor McGonnagall stopped me in the hallway. "Rose, when did you last see Albus? she asked, worried."he didn't make it off the train." I told her about the attempted reconciliation and the way he was acting. She thanked me for the information and left. I stood there stunned in the hallway. I wanted to cry and vomit at the same time. I ran to the fat lady's portrait, said the password, (Lionsmane) and ran up the stairs to the girl's dorms.
I slept late the following morning, and none of the teachers got after me for doing so. The search parties were coming in on and off to report findings and theories. I wanted to join them desperately, but I was under seventeen, so I couldn't.
After a month of worrying and searching, I woke up one morning to see that the calendar was turned to October. I just thought that someone had done it by accident, so I flipped it back to September. Alice was down in the common room, reading a book by a muggle author. I noticed that the common room was buried in black and orange glitter, with fake pumpkins adorning the shelves. "It's a little early for Halloween decor, don't you think?"
Alice put down her book and looked at me. "Rose, it's October twenty ninth."
"No, it's September twenty seventh.. isn't it?"
"Rose, are you feeling okay? This is unlike you, Halloween is your favourite holiday!"
Then Hugo came from the boy's dorms. He looked as confused as I was for a beat, and then he looked at me. "It's September twenty seventh, why do we have all of these decorations up? also, how did you put them up in such a short time?"
Alice looked worried. "Rose thought the same thing. This is weird..."
The rest of the day was confusing. I was supposed to have assignments for things I didn't even know about and I was supposed to have won an almost impossible quidditch game. It was all very confusing. Then something that I'd thought was impossible for a very long time happened.
