Salem

Lucius Malfoy.

I yelled in pain again. I wanted the pain to stop, even if I had to die to do so! Lucius turned to Scorpius and said, "Scorpius, you have never really met me. My name is Lucius Malfoy, and I am here to take you three to Delphi."

This.

Could.

Not.

Be.

HAPPENING!

But it was. Lucius put a ring of fire and brimstone around our bodies, and no matter what we tried, the fire would not go out. Seeing no other alternative, I grabbed the time turner and tried to turn it, but it wouldn't budge. I noticed that the three biggest Rubies, Sapphires, and Emeralds were glowing. I pressed the Emerald and turned the switch once.

twice.

three times.

the time turner wasn't taking us anywhere, so I pressed the sapphire twice.

I then saw the ruby shining like a star. I pressed it, and I got the sudden urge to say the name of a country. I said, America, and the time turner started spinning like mad. It felt like I was being pulled backwards on my feet, until I hit a certain point. Time stopped, and I felt like I was apparating somewhere. My feet finally hit solid ground after a time that felt like three hours but was probably only thirty seconds.

I was in a black dress with ornate white lace around the feet. Seconds after I noticed, Albus hit the ground in an outfit that looked like it was puritan. Scorpius hit the ground in the same ridiculous attire. A giggle escaped my lips, and when Albus shot me an ink- faced glare I laughed out loud.

I stopped when I saw what place we were in.

We were in Salem, Massachusetts.

I looked around for clues and found out that it was February, 1692... wait...

February 1692?

I looked around for some gallows, and sure enough I found them. I must have paled like a sheet, because seconds later Scorpius asked if I was alright. I shook my head.

Scorpius asked me what was wrong, and I told him this:

"The Salem witch trials are happening as we speak. We need to get out of here, unless you guys want me hanged or burned."

Albus gasped. Scorpius shuddered.

I went into the village.

The other two came close behind me. I looked around at all the colonial shoppes and inns, hoping to find a way to get out of this hysteria hotspot with my life. I passed a colonial shoppe that said, "FIND THE WITCHES TO BURN" with a photo of a woman being burned at the stake.

I shuddered and moved on.

Salem was obviously a very strict mannered place to live. In the center of town we saw the cleft sticks and stocks, as well as the infamous stake. I wouldn't have gone up there if somebody paid me 5,000 Galleons. There was a man in the stocks as we passed. He had been caught in a lie, the caption, Split tounged liar  was places there for all to see.

Albus and Scorpius didn't like Salem much either. I just kept trying to ignore the signs advocating the slaughter of innocent women accused of being what I was, although witches aren't actually of the devil, contrary to the belief of the time.

Scorpius must have noticed how much I hated this place, so he put his arm around me and whispered, "I am not going to let them burn you at the stake." I whispered back, "Thank you. I hope to not die."

I don't even remember what I did, but all I know is one moment I was passing a snake, the next it was chatting with me. Some people stared at me as I looked at the snake, who was to them hissing like crazy at a girl with two boys.

The snake said, "Wassup? Glad to see you're not like these muggle deadbeats. They hanged a woman about a week ago, nice lady actually. Her name was Bridget bishop."

I shuddered in horror. What if I was next?

Just then someone grabbed me. He was tall, about six feet, and he was glaring at me, holding a rope.

Uh-oh.

I tried to get away but the man took me into a house. There was a little girl on a bed in one of the rooms of the house, and she looked awful to say the least. The man asked if I was the person who bewitched her, and the little girl nodded.

Crap.

He took me to the center of town and yelled, "WE HAVE CAUGHT A WITCH! PREPARE THE STAKE!" The crowd cheered at the announcement of my demise. Albus and Scorpius were trying to tell people that I wasn't a witch, and even tried to grab me while they were preparing the stake for a victim.

I was bound to the stake moments later, and as they brought the torches in I wanted to pinch myself and wake up by the lake, safe and sound. Well, this was unfortunately not a nightmare.

As the man who grabbed me gave his speech, I noticed a rat and got an idea. I lured the rat over with the scent of chicken, leftover from breakfast. Soon, they were under the ropes. The torches lit the mixture of wood and oil, and the rat's natural instincts took over.

The rats quickly chewed through the ropes and I escaped to the forest, and Albus and Scorpius followed me. The townspeople didn't notice because the flames were blocking their view.

When we caught up with each other, Albus and Scorpius were estatic that I was alive. They both hugged me and Scorpius kissed me.

"So, what gave you the rat idea?" Albus asked hopefully.

"There was a form of torture in the middle ages that involved putting rats in a bucket on top of a person's bare stomach. Then, they lit the top of the bucket on fire. The rats, following their natural instincts, would then chew and dig through the person's intestines. I figured I could use that little fact to my advantage."

Scorpius looked like he was going to hurl.

I pulled out the time turner and pushed the wheel like a button, sending us back to Hogwarts and the present.

Sorry guys, I was experiencing extreme writers block on this and I was reading about the Salem witch trials and I thought, Hey, I could use that. Also, rat torture was a real thing. It's nasty and I'm sorry if I made you queasy. Thanks for reading!
