Unloved

I woke up one fateful summer morning to meet the worst surprise of my life. My parents were standing in the doorway, right next to each other. "Good morning." I said.

"Rose, we need to talk to you about something." My mother said.

"What?" I asked.

She sat down next to me.

"Rose, you have been really... disappointing... lately."

"What do you mean...?"

"Rose, we never loved you in the first place, but this is the last straw. You need to leave or get left."

"What?"

"You heard what I said. Your father and I have decided that you are a disappointment and a sore on the family name. Goodbye."

Tears stung my eyes as I ran. I ran past Hugo, who looked very confused with his mouth full of frosted flakes.

I stopped walking a mile from my house and sat down and cried. I cried about my family and I cried about how I would have to face Delphi alone. I wondered what my parents were telling Hugo right now. About how he was their favourite? I gave another sob.

I spent the night in a makeshift tent, and stayed there until August 31st. I left for Hogwarts and hoped to be able to make my own life away from my family.
