"Thanks for ride. I'll just get my brother to drive me back to my apartment to find my spare keys tomorrow morning."

"I can pick you up."

I smiled at Jay who was sitting in the driver's side of his car. I had woken up at his place this morning and he insisted on driving me to work since I couldn't find the keys to my car.

"I wouldn't want to make you late for work."

"Okay, I'll see you after I'm done work tomorrow then?"

I nodded and leaned forward. I planted my lips on his and I couldn't help but smile. I hadn't been this happy in a while.

"I better go."

Jay chuckled as I pulled back.

"I wouldn't want to make you late for work now."

I chuckled as I grabbed my bag from the back seat and got out. I made my way up the driveway and Shay jogged up and swung her arm around my shoulder.

"Look at you. All light up like a Christmas tree!"

I shook my head as we entered the firehouse. We walked past the Squad table and I smiled. I was in a cheerful mood this morning.

"Good morning boys."

"Morning Casey."

I looked around and my smile dropped as my eyes landed on Severide. I put my head down and walked to the locker room. I quickly changed into my uniform and I was walking to the common room for coffee when the bell went off. No coffee for me, I guess.

"Engine 51, Truck 81, Ambulance 61. House fire 13th and Kennedy."

As we pulled up to the scene we saw a lady standing outside looking frantic. I got out and made my way to her and so did Matt.

"I was deep-frying eggplant. I turned my back for a minute and there were flames everywhere. I tried to beat it out with a towel."

Matt looked down at her hand which was obviously burned.

"Let these two take care of that hand ma'am. We'll take care of the house."

She nodded and came with us to the back of the ambo. A few minutes later the guys all came back out and my brother walked up to us.

"You're probably going to need a new countertop, but everything else is okay."

She leaped forward and hugged my brother.

"Oh, my God, thank you. Thank you so much."

"Truck 81, are you available to assist at a pin-in accident?"

The lady let go of my brother and I laughed.

"Truck 81 responding."

My brother smiled at me and I turned towards the lady.

"Can I go inside to get my jacket before we go to the hospital?"

I nodded.

"Sure. Make it quick."

She nodded and walked off towards the house. I was zipping up the jump bag when she came running out of her house.

"Come back. Somebody stop them!"

I furrowed my eyebrows and walked over to her.

"Ma'am, what's the problem?"

She looked at me.
