Everly

I closed my car door as Kelly walked by me.

"How'd you get the shiner? Hit on the wrong woman?"

He looked back at me.

"Something like that."

I scoffed and walked up the driveway following Kelly. I walked over to the locker room and changed into my uniform before making my way to the ambo to start inventory.

"Hey. I'm looking for Sylvie Brett."

"Harrison?"

"Hey, Sylvie."

My eyes widened and I looked back at Brett. She sighed and I walked over to the Squad table and sat down. I pulled open a magazine pretending to read it, but actually listening to Sylvie's conversation

"What are you doing here?"

"Truth be told, I came to apologize."

"Maybe we should talk about this in private."

"Nope. This is as good a place as any. I blew it. I looked at our coming wedding and I had doubts about whether I wanted to marry the only girl that I ever loved and I let my cold feet get the best of me. I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry I called off the wedding and I want you back. Please come home."

"Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Person in distress. 225 Drummond Avenue."

"I have to go."

I got up and walked over to the ambulance. I pulled open the driver's door of the ambulance and looked over at Brett as we both climbed inside.

"So this Harrison, he left you?"

She sighed as she pulled the passenger door close.

"Um...Yeah. I kinda lied about that."

I nodded as I took off and drove to the scene. The guys were already working away when we pulled up.

"We need struts and cribbing, right now!"

"On its way! Let's go!"

"Herrmann, have the bottle jacks standing by."

"Watch the front end! Watch it!"

"Newhouse, I need a strut on this side!"

I pulled my hair back as we walked to the back of the ambo. We pulled out the stretcher and I walked over to the victim.

"Hey, Tom! Tom, hey! Look at me! We're doing our part, you do yours and stay awake, okay?"

"Alright, Casey, cribbing's set. Let's get this thing lifted."

My brother looked back with an angry face.

"Where are my jacks?"

Herrmann ran over and I bent down to look at the victim.

"Watch his head. Watch his head, guys."

As they started lifting the pile up I could see that he was potentially going into shock.

"Stay with me! That's it. Alright, let's board him."

Kelly grabbed onto the board.

"I'll board him."

I shook my head.

"No, I can slide it right.."

"No, it's too unstable. I'll bring him to you."

I sighed and handed Kelly the backboard.

"He's clear, let's get him out."

"Easy, easy."
