~Chapter 43~

Genevieve's POV

I fix my blonde wig as I walk into the supermarket. My large dark sunglasses sat on my nose. I slid them off a bit to read labels off the food.

It was mid afternoon and I was with James grocery shopping. I was on my tippy toes trying to get the last captain crunch cereal box.

"Gene!?" A woman shouted I looked at her eye wide and shifted my eyes to James for help and he stepped in front of me.

"Gene it's me Mariana!" She said as she waved at me as James tried to move her.

I stopped James and he stood to my side.

"Mariana?" I said as I llooked at her behind my sunglassss. Her hair dyed red with piercings. She didn't look the girl I met back in high school and she had a little girl with her.

She nodded happily and she reached for a hug and I put my hand in protest.

"The hell are you doing? We stopped being friends after what you did to me." I kept my voice low as the little girl was looking at fruit snacks.

"Gene I'm sorry I don't what was with me. I was on drugs.. I didn't know was I doing.,It was an accident."

I sighed heavily looking around," right it was accident, You have always been after Michael. I noticed it in school. You would flirt with him and hang around with him when I was there."

She looks down shamefully," it was just a silly crush, But now I'm very much in love with a guy name Dough and that's his daughter Ana." She pointed out.

I look over at the young girl then back at her," You took this silly crush to the next level. We were best friends Mariana look at us now. You ruined us. Especially my relationship with Michael. It was nice since seeing you I guess" I said grabbing my cart.

"You always have the same disguise." She smiles and I nod her at her which is true I always wear this.

I touched my wig and then look at her as awkwardness set in. It's funny how your best friend can turn into a stranger ," Thank you Gene for not saying anything about me in the interview you two did together."

I pressed my lips into a thin line
," don't mention it. Don't get me wrong I wanted to expose you and have people after you but it was Mikes publisher who thought it was a bad idea.

She looked down," I'm really sorry."

Did I forgive her? Yeah forgivin but not forgotten. That day I lost two important people in my life my best friend and the love of my life, Michael.

James clears his throat and I look at her," I've got to go I'm busy."

It got awkward once again and she was going in for a hug but James gets in her way and we walk past her.

"Thanks James." I said lowly and nods at me.

I took fast steps to the next aisle with him and I hear her voice one more time.

"Bye.." She said her voice descending.

My mood was kind of ruined.
