Part 19

"That is correct. I think you know what we have to do. Your only options is to give your sister to a different family to keep her safe, or drop out of the corps and take care of her then." Asuno looked down, wanting to cry. You barged your head out of one of the Hashira's hands, looking up with a worried expression on your face.

"Excuse me, can't we let her in with my sister Kanao? She can look after her until then, I promise."
Shinobu said with a concerned feeling, but Himina decided her offer.

"Unfortunately, we cannot do that. There are certain rules among the Hashira as well, so I'm afraid she can't do so. (Y/n), could you please explain why you're traveling with a little girl?"

You sighed, but then snapped back. "She's all I have left after my brother died! My parents are probably even dead now, for crying out loud! Just please let me keep her, she's the only family that I have left.." Himina looked down and sighed, not knowing what to tell you. You then realized that you were probably not able to keep Asuno, so you stopped talking and gave up even when they tried to get you to speak.

"She seems like she won't talk. I guess we should give a further discussion about Nezuko, then. Shinobu."

"Oh, right." Shinobu got up and picked up a cup of water, walking towards Tanjiro.

"Would you mind explaining why you are traveling with a demon? Please, take your time in doing so." She handed him the water, letting him take a sip. He was about to speak up, until a man with white hair and a scar across his face came barging in. He creeped you out a bit.

He picked up Tanjiro's box that Nezuko was inside of, and rapidly stabbed his sword inside of it. You could hear a scream coming from Nezuko, which really pissed you off. Tanjiro got angry, trying to get out of the assistant's hands. It didn't work out much at all, though. You were free for some time, so you took the opportunity to get up and fight him back. The flame pillar tried grabbing your hands to keep you away from him, but you slipped your hand out and pulled the sword out of the box. You then tried taking the box away, but the man kicked you off.

"What the hell is your problem?! This thing inside of here is a demon!! Back off you moron!!" He scoffed at you, shoving his sword in deeper. This let out another cry from Nezuko, and blood started dripping out from the crack. He then threw the box under the shadow, and grabbed your sister and pulled her out there too. How were people okay with this shit?!

He first walked up to Asuno.
"Prove to me that you're worthy of fighting." He tried grabbing her arm and slamming her, but she immediately dodged. Instead, she grabbed his arm and threatened to stab the back of him with her sword. Of course, he was much stronger than her, so it was very easy for him to throw her off. That's what he did, causing Nezuko to jump out of her box and catch Asuno before she hit ground. If Nezuko didn't catch that, Asuno's head could've cracked open.

"Oh, so now the demon is acting all innocent now?! Pathetic." He took his sword and cut his arm open, trying to manipulate Nezuko. This caused Tanjiro to cry out in panic.

"Nezuko!! Don't fall for it!! You aren't like that!" It looked like she thought about it for a moment. The man kept teasing her, treating her like a dog. It disgusted you, especially the fact that he tried to take on a goddamn six year old. I guess that this was just reality.

She then turned her head away, surprising everyone surrounding her. If only people would at least try to understand that not all demons were bad, even Nezuko.
