Tanjiro Kamado x Fem!reader

Part 29

We all followed Tanjiro, but we didn't know what was going on. He kept running and running, not paying attention to anything, until I noticed a tree falling off one of the mountains. It was super tall, tall enough to reach over here and crush one of us. Even worse, it was heading for Tanjiro, which left me no choice but to step in. Hopefully this didn't hurt Asuno.

"Tanjiro!! Watch out!"

I ran towards Tanjiro as fast as I could, pushing him out of the way as I fell on him. I slowly opened up my eyes, just to see the position I was in with him.

I was on top of him.
A blush covered both of our faces, embarrassing me as I quickly got up from the position I was in.

"I-I-I'm really sorry Tanji-" before I could finish my sentence, Tanjiro pulled me down again. An even darker shade of red covered my face, confused on what he was doing.

"Why are you sorry? You saved my life, even Nezuko's. Thank you, I wasn't paying attention." He said, giving me a warm hug. I felt quite appreciated.

"O-oh I-it's no problem! But- you do realize what position we're in, right-?" I asked in stutters; I felt the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.

"Yeah, haha sorry (y/n)." He laughed, as I laughed too. Zenitsu chimed in.

"Are you too flocking love birds done yet?! There's a demon up there that I saw, and I'm getting really scared!!" Zenitsu pointed up to the mountain from where the tree had fallen, of course a demon was behind that. The tree was too big and bulky for it to have fallen by itself.

"C'mon, let's go everyone," as he guided me, Zenitsu, and Inosuke up the mountain. Y'know, I haven't heard much from Inosuke since Asuno had become a demon. I decided to confront him.

"Hey Inosuke, are you alright? You haven't been talking much." I looked back at him.

"What?! Lord Inosuke is doing just fine!!! Don't make me fight you!! UGRAHHHHHH!" He came charging at me for a headbutt, but i quickly moved out of the way just to see him fall face on the ground. I couldn't help myself but laugh, as his mask slowly fell off the more he got up. What a pain, but he could be funny sometimes.

"Be careful, Inosuke, you wouldn't want to hurt yourself." I laughed, while he just got even more aggressive because of what I said.

"LORD INOSUKE CAN'T HURT HIMSELF!! HE IS TOO MIGHTY AND POWERFUL!! NOW GET OUT THE WAY!!" He kept yelling while piling right past me, now giving Zenitsu a hard time. I caught up with Tanjiro and walked next to him, accidentally brushing by hand against his. I felt the embarrassment heat up to my face, but then it switched to surprisement as I felt his rough but warm hands gently hold mine. I looked up at Tanjiro, who then looked back at me, with his smile on his face.

"It's okay if you're scared (y/n). I'm here." He smiled once again.

Well, I was just a little bit nervous I admit. But I wasn't really scared. But then again, a lot of people go missing because of this very demon.. okay I need to stop.

"This mountain is a bit hard to get up.. especially with Asuno on my back." I complained, with a tired expression on my face.

"Here, grab my hand," Tanjiro extended his hand out to me, as I slowly but steadily took it.

We were walking up the mountain, but it was kind of dangerous. The mountain wasn't high at all actually, so it wouldn't take us long to get up there, though it was making me nervous. We kept walking until the mountain started moving a rock below me fell, causing me to slip before Tanjiro grasped my hand. I looked down below me, and..

I could've died.

For some strange reason, the mountain has gotten.. higher?

I didn't think much of it, before I felt the mountain shift. Yeah, no way in hell that this was normal. I saw Zenitsu and Inosuke trying to get up as well, and Zenitsu was panicking. Again. I could hear all of his screams and cries from all the way up here, it kinda distracted me but I decided to ignore it.
