C - Christmas and Confessions

It was Christmas and it was Karma's birthday, after a surprise party by his parents Karma walked around the town trying to escape the boring party. He meets his classmates, his teachers and wishes them even though he would have ignored them if he could.

He walks to a cake shop when he sees Manami buying something from the store. Manami also notices him and waves at him.

"Merry Christmas Okuda san." Greets Karma. It was the first time in this whole day that he wished someone genuinely, except for his parents of course.

"Merry Christmas to you too and happy birthday Karma kun.",

Manami takes Karma to different stores across the town and Karma was actually not minding it at all, he was in fact enjoying the time that he was spending with her.

It was already evening and people had started gathering in a place nearby. Someone climbed on the stage and spoke into the mic.

"Hello everyone, I'm your beloved host for this evening's programme for couples. Please give it a big hand."

The people around clapped and cheered for the host, Manami was also amongst them while Karma nonchalantly stood by Manami's side.

"You know there's a legend that goes that whoever confesses about their feelings to the person they love under this giant Christmas tree." The host points towards the huge Christmas tree behind him.

"They say that the couple will last forever." Added the host.

The crowd cheers and Karma suddenly seemed interested. Not that he believes in legends but it did sound like an interesting thing to do. He grabs Manami by her hands and pulls her away from the crowd.

"Karma kun, where are you taking me?"

Karma silently takes Manami behind the Christmas tree, away from the view of people.

"Karma kun why did you bring me here?"

"I love you Okuda san."

Confesses Karma out of the blue. Manami was shocked to say the least, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Was she mistaken? Did she hear things right?

"I didn't get what you mean Karma kun?"

"I've always had feelings for you Okuda san. I love spending time with you. You make me feel happy unlike anyone else. You're special to me and I cannot imagine a second of my life without you. You're not just a friend who makes potions for my pranks, you're more than that. You're special and I'll no meet another woman like you. I'd be really glad if you'd go out with me."

Manami listened silently to Karma, she had processed the whole thing but she was still confused. Did she have the same feelings? Or did she consider him only a friend. Either way she had to tell Karma an answer and so after much thought process she took a deep breathe.

"Thank you so much Karma kun and I really appreciate your feelings but I'm really sorry but I cannot go out with you."

It looked like Manami was trying to be careful with her words.

"Is there someone else?"

"No! No! There's no one else. I cannot even imagine myself with someone else other than you. It's just I'm not ready for a relationship yet. I want to focus on my studies first. I'm really sorry Karma kun." Apologized Manami.

Karma felt disappointed, he knew he should be ready but still it made him a little disappointed but he was content that he at least told his feelings.

"Thank you fir telling me your answer straight up, you're still will always be the one for me and I won't give up on you." he put a smile on his face and was about to walk back when he remembers Manami's words and processes them properly.

"Wait a minute, did I hear you say that you cannot imagine yourself with anyone but me?" He asks Manami.

Manami realised that she had actually told him that she also likes him as well. She covered her mouth.

"I- I didn't.... I mean I... It's actually.... " Manami was stuck with her words but it made things clear for Karma. A mischievous smile appears on his face.

"So, I guess you do have feelings for me too?"

Manami hides her blushing face but it was obvious. Karma leans in close to Manami causing Manami's heart to race.

"I guess this allows me to flirt with you." He smirks mischievously.

Manami had no answer for that either and she has already realized that Karma was not going to spare her, he was going to flirt. She should've minced her words properly, but it already seemed useless now. She shouldn't have told karma her feelings but somewhere deep inside her heart Manami knew that she had feelings for Karma as well and that she was happy that Karma now knows about it.
