A/N: I apologize for not posting in like days. As soon as I had finished writing this chapter, I accidentally deleted it. I wasn't motivated to write the exact same thing again, so this is actually my plan b type of thing, because I don't want to have to write that long thing again.
Peggy had been coming to visit Laurens in the hospital everyday after her classes. She was very upset that he had to go through all of this. He didn't deserve it. He had never done anything wrong in his life to deserve everything that had happened to him. He was practically the poster child for goodness, and for tragedy.
Laurens had been coughing alot, but he wasn't coughing up much blood anymore. His temperature was also back to normal, but the nurse had to check every so often to make sure it stayed that way. He was over all... better?"Hey Schuyler." Laurens said as he saw her walk in. "Come to state the obvious of how I'm in the hospital?"
"Depends. Define that sentence." Peggy joked.
"Whatever. Did you bring me a donut?"
"Duh." She went over and showed him a box. "Strawberry, vanilla, and maple."
"Oh, you know me too well." He laughed.
"I apparently don't know myself though. I decided to try a punking one they had for fall. It was gross. Nothing like the ones at Dunkin Donuts." Peggy replied. "I suppose cafeteria will work too."
Laurens started coughing a little and grabbed a handkerchief thing to hold up to his mouth.
"You ok?" Peg asked.
"Yeah, they said that as long as it's a minor amount of blood that it just means I need some medication or something." Laurens explained.
"You sure?"
"I promise. I'm ok now."
"Now where have I heard that before?" Peggy stated.
"I'm actually not sure. I tend to say a lot of things when I get over dying or something." Laurens joked.
"Ah yes. You said that after we got you back." Peggy remembered.
"Little more information."
"When you were kidnapped."
"Eek! Yeah that wasn't the best part of my life."
"You said you were ok. And yet... we're back to phase one." Peggy whispered, talking more to herself then to him. He still heard her.
"I actually have thought of that. Like when everything seems to lead back to one thing. For me it's pain and the hospital. And for some reason, it's inevitable." Laurens whimpered.
"I feel like everything in my life has just led me to disappointment. Like I can't make good decisions anymore. Then I'm always stuck with the poor outcome." Peggy said. Although she was thinking something else. How everything in her life led back to him, a boy who couldn't go one year without almost dying. The weird thing is that it only made her love him even more. She didn't know why either. She just knew that she was in love with him, and that she had her chance at happiness, and she blew it.
"You've made good decisions." Laurens tried to cheer her up.
"Name one."
"Well... you broke up with Stephen."
"After agreeing to marry him. Bad decision."
"What about..." He couldn't come up with anything.
"Told ya." She laughed slightly.
"Would you count punching James Madison in the face a good decision?" Laurens suggested.
"Would you?"
"Sure. Why not."
"Then I guess so." Peggy giggled.
The nurse came in a moment later.
"Just need to give you your daily dose of sgrodhdbrvt." The nurse said. (This is a joke because of how I can never pronounce my medication whenever I get sick or something.)
"What?" Laurens asked.
"Iirbdoabdvfo."
"Ok, just shove the metal thing in my arm."
The nurse rolled her eyes. After treating him this many times, she learned to just ignore the sarcasm. She didn't mind too much, she knew all he had to go through.
"Sorry, but I also need a temperature."
"But they already..." Laurens rolled his eyes as she jammed a thermometer in his mouth.
"If it's over 100° then you can't have any visitors." The nurse said. She waited a minute before taking it out. "98.7, you're fine."
"Good. I'm also tired." Laurens yawned.
"I thought your family was going to come and see you." Peggy questioned.
"Oh, when?"
"Like in an hour."
"Then wake me up in an hour." Laurens lifted his arm up and the nurse gave him the shot. He then rolled over and shut his eyes. "Do not disturb for one hour!" He yelled at Peggy. He fell asleep within seconds.
She just laughed and did as he wished. She looked over at the nurse. "When can he leave?"
"Well today is Tuesday, so hopefully before Friday." The nurse answered as she walked towards the door. "Assuming he doesn't relapse. Why? Do you have plans?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know, like a date or something?"
"We're just friends." Peggy protested.
"Mhmm, yeah right. He talks about you non stop whenever you're not here."
"H-he does?"
"And you're clearly in love with him. You should just tell him to move things along quicker. You're also always here for him whenever something happens to him." The nurse continued. "I bet you my next paycheck if you two don't end up married before your 25." The woman then turned and left the room.
Peggy thought about what she had said. Were they soulmates? Or were they truly just friends? It really all depended on him. She would've excepted without a heartbeat if he asked her out. But for now, she just wanted him to get better. Then they could decide what to do from there.
