Lauren's contacted 'the man' and told him his plan. Correction. He told him what he wanted to tell him, leaving the whole 'I'm trying to get you arrested' part out.
John Laurens: I want to meet you. In real life.
UnknownNumber📞: Why?
John Laurens: As long as you're around here, I know Alexander is in danger. Not to mention myself, but I'm kinda used to that by now. My point is, I can help you get out of town in exchange for leaving me and my family alone. The only condition, we meet up in person to discuss the details. I don't want to risk my family finding out.
UnknownNumber📞: ...
UnknownNumber📞: What's the catch? I've been doing my research, John. You're smart.
John Laurens: What do you want me to do?
UnknownNumber📞: Meet me at the corner of 28 St. tomorrow at 2:00. Come alone, and be prepared. I'm not a trusting man.
John Laurens: deal.
Laurens was nervous. He had no idea what he was getting himself into. He and Will went over all of the possible outcomes however. They didn't want to take any chances. When tomorrow came, Laurens went through all his classes feeling shaky, nervous, and anxious. But above anything else, he felt determined. Determined to stop 'the man' once and for all.
2:00 came and Lauren's went to meet up with 'the man'. He had met up with Will prior and went over every outcome again. Everything was set.
Laurens saw a black car pull up around the corner. 'The man' stepped out and double checked his surroundings before speaking to Laurens. Will was watching from a safe distance.
"You want to discuss something?" The man said. His voice had an accent that was sort of a mix of Italian and western American. Laurens didn't know exactly what to make of it.
"Would you rather do this here, or sit down?" Laurens said. "I personally have my preference..."
"Get in the car. Don't ask questions." The man ordered.
"That sounds like a threat." Laurens stated.
"You didn't think we would be doing this in the open, did you?" The man laughed. "I thought you were smart."
"I've never really negotiated with a murderer before. You'll have to forgive me." Laurens rolled his eyes. "How do I know this isn't a trap for me? I'm the only witness to identify you. If you kill me all you're problems are solved. So what assurance do I have?"
"I'm not a sick man. I don't like hurting innocent people. I only deal with those against me, and witnesses." The man began. "Now you seem like a good kid. Smart, handsome young man who's got his whole life ahead of him. I don't want to kill you. I will if I have to, but if i don't, I won't."
"You could be lying." Laurens argued.
"I could be. But do you have any other choice?" The man smirked.
Laurens sighed knowing he didn't. For different reasons though. Even if this man didn't want to kill him, he would still kill other people. Not to mention the fact that he was still threatening Alexander. Laurens couldn't risk that.
"Fine." Laurens nodded. Making sure Will was keeping an eye on him. Will had a car set up to follow them as one of the possible outcomes. Laurens followed the man to his car. He was surprised when the man blindfolded him. "Seriously?"
"Can't be too sure." The man shrugged. "You have your reassurances and I have mine."
Will saw them get into the car and got into his. He followed behind them from a safe distance to make sure he wasn't seen. If 'the man' knew that someone was following him, who knows what he'd do.
It seemed like a long time before the car finally stopped and Laurens was lead out to a place to sit down. After a moment, the man removed his blindfold and Laurens could see he was in some type of restaurant. There were no other people there and the few workers seemed suspicious.
"What is this, some kind of mafia front?" Laurens asked as the man pat him down.
"Not exactly. But they're some people who owe me a favor." The man explained. "The food is pretty good here. Order anything you'd like, on the house."
"I'm good." Laurens gulped. "I want to get to the main discussion."
"Yes." The man nodded. "You said you could help me. How?"
"My father was a criminal. As I'm sure you already know, he abducted me two years ago for reasons associated with money and the fact that I'm his biological son and he was crazy. I later found out that he had a backup plan to sneak out of the country. I will give you that plan and enough money to leave in exchange for my family's protection." Laurens said.
Will was listening through an ear piece. He was happy that Laurens still had 'the man's trust, but he needed to get a confession in order to arrest him.
"Laurens, get him to say he killed someone. If he already did, he was too far away for me to hear." Will said.
"On another note. You said you killed someone who was against you. How do I know I'm not against you, at least in your eyes?" Laurens asked.
"You'll have to trust me. Now, what plan do you speak of? If it is not guaranteed for success then you will have wasted my time." The man threatened.
"I need more than that." Will sighed.
"Who did you kill?" Laurens pressed.
"Why are you asking so many questions?" The man glared.
"Curiosity. You don't seem like too bad a guy. So why did you kill someone?" Laurens pushed while still trying not to be suspicious.
"I'm afraid that man I killed is my business. If you keep asking questions I will make sure you and your family are taken care of." The man spat.
"We have our confession. I'm coming in." Will stated.
Laurens continued to talk until Will came in. Since there were no other people in the restaurant, it did look suspicious. But hopefully they could play it off until Will could arrest him.
"We're closed." One of the workers said.
"I'm not here to eat." Will replied as he walked past him to the table Laurens and 'the man' were at. "You're under arrest for 1st degree murder."
The man stood up and grabbed Laurens. "So this was a set up? Can't say I didn't expect that." He pulled out a gun.
Will pulled out his too. "Drop it."
'The man' grabbed Laurens again and pointed the gun at him. "I think you'll want to drop yours."
Will took a step back and carefully lowered his gun. Laurens wasn't going to let this guy away this easily though.
"Yeah, this ain't happening again." Laurens then stomped on the man's foot, elbowed his stomach and turned around to sock him in the jaw, causing 'the man' to fall back and hit his head on the table, knocking him out cold.
A/N: I accidentally published this early before it was finished and had to unpublish. I'm curious though, do you guys get notifications when that happens? Cause I seem to do it a lot more then I would to.
