¨Hiccup¨, Stoick says in his booming voice, while Gobber stands behind him seemingly looking guilty, the reason for which Hiccup didn't know.
¨He-Hey Dad, how are you? What are you doing here?¨
¨Looking for you, I have some news for you.¨ When Hiccup stayed quiet, he continued:
¨Because of your continued mishaps¨ He said this like he just ate something rotten, ¨You will be confined in the house except for washing and eating until you learn your lesson¨
It was like he fell from the roof all over again, because the pain of that statement was almost equal. Now you may think he's overacting, but for Hiccup, the only thing he still has is his freedom, and helping out in the blacksmith. To have that taken away from him, was a blow worse than he thought imaginable.
¨Dad, dad, listen, I wont cause anymore trouble at all, just don't do this!¨
As usual his father ignored him, instructing Gobber to take him back to his house, and to lock the front door on the way out. Now for most Vikings a locked door wouldn't hold them back, but Hiccup wasn't a ¨most Vikings¨ and a locked door made of wood, might as well be an iron wall for all the effort he could put into pushing it. The other burden stopping him was that it was an order, an order made by his father and the chief of the village, and that was stopping him more than anything.
As he was half dragged, half helped over to his house by Gobber, Hiccup decided to mentally prepare himself for the isolation and boredom that was to come.

As he was carrying the basket of fish inside he got roughly shoved over by none-other than Snotlout.
¨Hey useless, heard you're too scared to go out of your house nowadays. You wanna go cry to your mommy? Oh wait you don't have one.¨ Snotlout said mockingly.
Hiccup stayed silent, but clenched him hands. his fingers making half-moon crescents on his palms. As Snotlout sauntered away satisfied his small brain made a good insult, Hiccup slowly picked up the dirt covered fish, still seething from his encounter. As he ran over the barrage of comebacks he could've given to Snotlout, he didn't realize the two fish still on the ground.

He was lounging on his bed, listening to the sounds coming from the brutal raid outside, and he lamented that he wouldn't be able to test out his latest invention: The Mangler. It was a high powered bola shooter, capable of taking down the most powerful of dragons in one-shot. As he thought this, he heard the tell-tale sounds of the Nightfury. The banshee screech and the sound of an explosion. The Unholy Offspring of Lightning and Death, a name well earned. Hiccup sat up. The Nightfury! He could use The Mangler! As he ran out of his room he went to the front door, so caught up in excitement he forgot about it being locked until he tried to open it. Disheartened he made his way back up to his room. He knew he could use the back door. His father didn't even know the house had one, and was probably so used to people following his orders that he didn't even think of other ways Hiccup could have left. But he knew the trouble he would be in if he got caught wasn't worth the small off-chance of hitting the Nightfury. Besides, The Mangler was in the back room of the blacksmith where Gobber was working alone sharpening weapons.
As he laid there, he heard odd slurping sounds coming from the backyard of his house. He slowly made his way down confused. He also heard some thudding to go with it. They were coming from right behind the house, from where he had been shoved by Snotlout. As he creeped over to the door, he continued hearing the sounds. He slowly opened the door, but it was a rusty old piece of wood that creaked louder than some Vikings could shout. The sound outside immediately ceased. Luckily he only had to open the door half a foot before he slipped outside. It was still dark and Hiccup could still hear the sounds of the distant raid.
He kept looking around, and saw the barrels, ropes, and other equipment that are usually piled somewhat neatly behind the house spread out all over the place. Its like a dragon was prancing about here. He walked over to a a shadow that seemed odder than usual, it was darker and seemed to absorb all the light that was pointed towards it. As he got closer the shadow seemed to shift, infinitesimally, and Hiccup jumped backwards shouting in alarm. At his sound the shadow shifted again, and two acid green eyes blinked open to look right at him. Hiccup was completely frozen in place, wanting to run screaming in the other direction, but his feet seemed to be rooted to the ground. For the first time, he found out what is felt like to truly be prey. Suddenly there was a gust of wind and the eyes were gone. A few minutes later he heard the familiar, but terrifying sound of a Nightfury's scream, and the sounds of an ending raid. Hiccup went back inside, his mind whirling from what had just happened.

The next day as Hiccup woke up and made his way down to the main kitchen, Hiccup had an odd urge to eat fish. Maybe because of the fact a dragon had let him go, or just the fact that he was face-to-face with one. After an ok breakfast of some toasted fish he made his way back upstairs. He did some drawing, mostly trying to distract himself from the events of the night before, but the only thing he was thinking about was Gobber always said,
¨Dragons will ALWAYS go for the kill¨
So why didn't THAT dragon? That brings up the other question of what species of dragon was it? It was almost as if his own brain was denying it, but eventually he had to accept the facts his own brain was providing him with: The dragon that let him go was none other than the legendary Nightfury itself, the unholy offspring of lightning and death.
