Authors Note: Before you read this chapter make sure that you read the previous the one that I edited and re-updated after I asked the question.
As Hiccup tromped through the gnarled and dark forest stopping every few seconds to throw a kick at the roots and trees around, he thought of how nobody even asked him why he was going into the forest. He had left a note a note in Stoick's house to not worry as if he would care about what happened to me, he was safe and staying somewhere safe for the time being. he hadn't even tried to explain or make an excuse for why he wasn't staying where he usual slept. As he continued to look around he eventually found a beautiful cove with a lake in the middle of it with plants and trees around the falls. As good as any other. As Hiccup set done his meager belongings of some paper, charcoal pencils, clothes, and bread with cheese for food he thought about how free he felt all alone with himself as his company.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every morning he would go and help Gobber with his work in the blacksmith. Stoick had lifted his orders for Hiccup to not be allowed to help without a reason (probably because he now had a stable heir for Berk he didn't care much about disciplining his own son). After helping out for much of the day he would go and eat lunch be himself, and then make his way back into the solitude of the forest till the next day.
After four days of this system Hiccup eventually had to admit to himself that it was impractical. First off, he had too many sleepless nights hearing the howling of the wolves, and whatever else made odd clicking sounds during the night. The rumors and stories of demons and killers roaming the night would roll around his skull, and after a few hours he would fall asleep, the dreams would be mostly comprised of him running away all alone from some beast. So instead of going back to the forest that afternoon, he made his way back to 'The chief's house'. His da-Stoick looked at him as he made his way back up to his room, but didn't say anything.
After a week of a continuous system of being ignored, humiliated by his peers, and then sleeping Hiccup was looking for something to break the cycle he was in. The thing that did so, was not something he was expected, or welcomed. The conversation had been just as Hiccup had come in from Gobber's blacksmith after working the whole day sharpening axes. He had looked around for Stoick, who had been waiting for him in his room. The conversation went thus:
"So Hiccup, I have some news."
"Uhh, OK?"
"I have decided to put into dragon training starting tomorrow"
Here Hiccup was confused, didn't the letter say that he wouldn't be in dragon training with Snotlout? His confusion was put into rest by his father's next words:
"You won't directly be participating in the training, you will outside the arena, learning from listening and watching and talking with Gobber."
So that was it, his own da-father didn't think he could learn or be close to dragons. Just the thought of this brought back the pain Hiccup had managed to push down the 4 days alone in the forest.
"Gee, thanks da-Stoick. I'll be there...probably."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day as Hiccup headed towards the arena he thought about what he could do to not be noticed by the rest of the teens who would inevitably make fun of him having to be outside and not legitimately learn how to fight dragons as if I could. He walked over, and tried to find a place in the arena that could be as covered by shadow as possible, but alas, one of the few sunny days Berk has in its year had to be today, and the entire arena was bathed in sunlight. He picked a corner, mentally preparing himself for the insults that were soon going to come.
He didn't have to wait long for the rest of the teens to show up, and their noticing of him went almost exactly as he had envisioned it. Snotlout made some 'genius' insult of how he was a fishbone, who's own dad didn't even trust him to learn how to fight dragons, first true thing he's said in a while. The twins made some stupid comment Hiccup didn't even try to remember. Astrid ignored him, and Fishlegs, wow, even Fishlegs gets to learn, looked away from him shamefacedly, as he always did when the twins and Snotlout picked on him and he didn't do anything about it. As Gobber walked in dragon training started:
"Aye, let's start, the first dragon we will learn to fight is the Gronkle!"
As Gobber went to open the cage, Snotlout said in panic:
"Wait aren't you gonna teach us first?"
"I believe in learning on the Job!"
In short, the lesson went as well as you could imagine; the twins fighting over something and nearly getting killed, Snotlout showing off to Astrid and also nearly getting killed, Fishlegs freaking out running away from everything, and of course, the only person who did anything well was Astrid who at least managed to do something right.
"We'll go again tomorrow, and we'll talk about this more at dinner at the great hall, BE THERE!"
As Gobber shouted the last part, Hiccup startled, and ignoring the teens went back into the forest for a walk alone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Hiccup continued walking through the forest. he came at a cross point where he would usually take a right to go to the cove, but today he decided to go right. As he walked for over three hours, and dark fell, he knew he would have to make his way back to the cove, because he wouldn't be able to get to the village in the dark. For some reason though, he kept walking and eventually heard the sounds of a raid.
"SHIT"
He was here walking in the forest while the raid was going on back at the village. He saw some more and more of the sky and ran forward. He came up at a cliff overlook that was positioned in a way that he could see almost all of Berk perfectly. He saw the fires coming up and saw some of them put out, no doubt put out by Fishlegs and Astrid, while the rest were arguing or showing off. Hiccup knew by the time he made it back to Berk (if he could) the raid would be long over, and he would be berated by his Father either way, so might as well stay up here anyways. as he walked over to close to the edge, he saw it.
The sleek body of a Nightfury come out of the shadows and the acid green eyes look into him again, before a gust of wind hit him again and the banshee screech was heard over Berk, and even from here Hiccup could hear the shouts of 'NIGHTFURY, GET DOWN'. Hiccup was still stunned into silence, and a sense of deja vu settled over him. Hiccup surprised himself by being this calm while also freaking out internally at the same time. He had faced the Nightfury, the Unholy Offspring of Lightening and Death, twice and lived.
Authors Notes: (Please read this one, at least the first part), so many of you may be like that was much to convenient for the Nightfury to meet Hiccup exactly here, but as you can see in the movies the nightfury is clearly a leader of the raids. Also have you ever noticed how the nightfury attacks later? I like to think of this as that Toothless would check out the raid and see where to attack before going in. As for Hiccup finding him there, I have 2 things to say: One sometimes, yes you have to use a little 'consequences' or 'luck' in stories, but also that Toothless and Hiccup obviously have a connection made by gods to stop the wars, something that WILL be explained after Hiccup leaves to --------- and that leads them to finding each other in different situations.
