Chapter 26

Freeing herself from Hyeon Jae arms that were holding her close to him, Ji Su quietly sighed.

« I don't know what I should do now ... »

« Ji Su-ya ... » began the older man, holding onto her shoulder tighter « I don't know if you heard... but I think it's better if I tell you myself. »

Hearing his uncertain tone, Ji Su guessed that she might not like what he was going to say but forced herself to look at him. He was searching for her eyes, begging for her understanding and she certainly won't let him down after all he had done for her.

« My mother called me a few days ago. I wasn't even aware that she seriously thought about it and I really didn't say I wanted to or even ever been interested. I just dismissed the idea all together before. My parents have decided on their own and I don't know what to make of it. I have been lost for days now and I am dreading their arrival. I'm so sorry for my rumbling but ... »

« Is it about the marriage proposal ? » Ji Su interrupted, confirming her suspicions.

« Ho ... How did you hear about it ? » stuttered the young man in front of her.

« Su Ji Noona asked me for help yesterday night. » she sighed quietly « I think, she likes you and is interested in the proposal. »

Ji Su couldn't keep on saying more. It broke her heart, knowing that the man she had come to like was also the man destined to be with her sister. Before crying, she had to shift her head, looking up to hold onto the threatening tears.

« Is ... no I mean ... She was asked to marry me ? Su Ji is the one ... ? I never knew it was her ... that's just the worst ! »

He seemed lost for words. She could understand the surprise, after all she had reacted in a worse way to the devastating news.

« What about you ? What do you think ? »

The unexpected question made Ji Su stiffened. She didn't know what she was supposed to say. Her heart was in turmoil but her brain couldn't let her say any of her feelings. Rationality was strong and she was used to having to hide her feelings.

« Ji Su-ya. » Hyeon Jae's voice was so tender, that's when she felt his hand on her jaw, she couldn't refuse to look at him under her eyelashes.

« Ji Su-ya, tell me please ! » He was getting closer, stroking her cheek, his other hand coming back on the nape of her neck.

Her breath hitched, her whole body reacting at his proximity, shivers going down her spin.

« Ji Su-ya, is there just a little chance that you like me too ? »

His nose was grazzling her cheek which was blaring red by now. Hearing him almost beg her was creating butterflies in her tummy. She couldn't think, react to his pleading, nor blink an eye.

As she was still struggling to breath, he distanced himself from her face, locking their eyes looking for an answer. It seemed that he noticed her slight nod or just saw the answer in her wide opened eyes as a dashing smile appeared on his lips.

Silence was deafening, surrounding them in their little bubble. Happiness just at hands' reach, Ji Su unknowingly inched closer to Hyeon Jae, entranced by his gaze. Without realizing what happened she suddenly felt his lips graze hers, electrifying them both. She could taste the scent of sweet citrus smell coming off of his adorable thin lips. An avid sound exited from his slightly parted lips and she latched on him, devouring his lips. Their first kiss full of passion and unrestrained emotions for the first time. He nibbled on her lips, and kissed her softly when she whimpered from the contact. Out of breath, they separated, eyes beaming from shared happiness.
