June gathered the letters she received over the summer and read Lily's over again.
She sighed at her predicament of being a Potter. It was bonus and curse. Imagine the frustration of not being able to settle anything nor help either Lily or James with their love connection issues. Lily couldn't complain about her brother to her nor confess any feelings, knowing it would only be a matter of time before James knew. June couldn't lie to save her arse. James also tried to convince his sister to 'throw him a bone' when begging to know what Lily ever said or thought of him - naturally he wasn't shy in declaring his love but as she couldn't lie, she would beg him to shut up. She skimmed the letter again, looking at her best friends reading list when it occurred to June that her favourite novel was missing
Ah ha! She let Sirius borrow it before the term ended.
With out a knock, hesitation or request to enter, June turned out of her room and into Sirius', striding over to his desk and began to search through his pile of novels and text books.
"Annnd you didn't knock because?" His voice appeared out of the shadows, a little jump in June's heart as she thought he was downstairs. Turning quickly, she cleared her throat and remained still.
"Magical, Mystery and Troll Tales. Where is it?" She asked, folding her arms around herself. He didn't say anything, instead he pulled open his side table draw and lifted her book up.
She leaned forward to take but instead he pulled back."Sirius, can I have it back now? Or you still reading it?" She sat at the corner of his bed, slowly looking around at his decorating. You could see little tufts of old wallpaper stuck to the items from where he ripped it off the walls quickly from his last home. A cold shiver ran over her as she imagined the night he escaped.
"You said I could have it?" He pouted slightly, his fingers taunt around the book binding.
"No I never! I said you could borrow it!" She snorted, holding her hand out. Taking it quickly, she opened the first page and gasped. "Sirius you shithead, You wrote all over it" a ripple of a growl escaped the corner of her mouth "why would you write on it!"
"To analyse and make notes?" He shrugged innocently, rubbing the back of his head. She pouted a little at his explanation, somewhat surprised that he would do something such as that. Taking a breath, she placed it back on the bed and looked at him.
"James has a copy. I'll take his - here. You clearly like it more than me." She felt it wasn't best to argue nor shout anymore. He was already dealing with enough. He grinned, pulling it back to his lap
"Sorry Juni.." he muttered as she walked to the door. She smiled and closed the door behind her. Rolling on his side, he traced the name in the front page with his index finger, spelling Juniper over and over again. Nearing the last few days of summer, he was finding living at the Potters so comforting yet hard to wrap his head around being there, especially with his room next to his best friends sister.
He knew June avoided them as much a possible at school, doing her best to succeed and work on her grades but spending the full summer with James and June made him realise how fun they were and more so, how much fun June could be - both in wit and heart. He continued to trace her name and wonder if things would get easier now that he was in a real home and with a good family.

"Thanks pops!" Sirius waved to James' father, dropping them off at the train station, school was back around again.
"Why did you call him pops! He's not your dad" June wrinkled her nose, looking up at Sirius as she placed her bag on the ground. "What, am I your sister now?" She rolled her eyes. James and Sirius exchanged a look and burst out laughing, walking ahead of her
"I don't see you as a sister ... that's for sure" Sirius' thought to himself, a smile hitched in the corner of his mouth.
They made it to their train on time, June desperate to find Lily and disappear from them. With luck, it only took moments and she got some quiet and Summer updates. They couldn't believe it was their 6th year already.
