"Whoooo!" The families and fans cheered from the stands as the football players ran out on field. Tonight was the last football game and would tell the boys where they would be at in the finals. As of right now we are in third place but if they can win tonight, we will be first in the bracket.

We cheered while the first play of the game was being ran through. The boys seemed to be playing well tonight so I was hoping we could pull off the win.

By half time, we were up 14 and was looking strong. We performed a new routine while the band was playing pump up music. The teams ran back out on field and Colton gave me a nod, saying he was good and ready.

I noticed the opposing team seemed to be playing rougher and doing illegal plays but wasn't getting called for it. The players were plowing our players over when they didn't even have the ball.

At the beginning of fourth quarter, I watched as it happened in what felt like slow motion. One of their players jumped at Colton and ran him into the ground. The noise he made when he was tackled had sounded very loud throughout the crowd.

I watched as the players stopped, some running towards him to check on him but being yelled out by the coach to get back. The coach and medical staff finally got to him and we watched as they brought over a gurney to transport him with. I knew it couldn't be good if they had to use that.

I ran over to where he was being loaded in the ambulance. I was going to ride with him but he stopped me. "Finish leading the cheers, I'll be fine. My truck keys are in my bag in the locker room, have Jake grab my bag for you and you can drive my truck over after the game." He told me.

They shut the back doors and drove off. I stood there watching after then for a minute before going back over to the team. We had a game to get through and then I could go check on Colton.

The rest of the game, I managed to lead cheers but I wasn't really focused on what I was doing. I was too worried about Colton. Even though he said he was alright, he seemed to be in pain.

Our team won by 7 but they weren't as happy as they would usually be. Colton was their star player and captain. Without him there for their victory, it didn't feel like much of a win.

"Can you get Colton's bag for me. I need his keys out of it." I asked Jake as he came off the field. Our parents were already at the hospital with him so I'm glad he told me I could use his truck.

"Sure." He said as he jogged into the locker room. He came out a minute later with all of Colton's things. "Let me know how he is."

"Thanks and I will." I don't even bother changing out of my uniform and instead head straight to his truck. I have to adjust his seat and mirrors before I pull out of the parking lot. The hospital was only a 10 minute drive from the school.

I pull into the hospital parking lot and find a parking spot that I can fit Colton's truck into. Once I'm parked, I rush into the hospital and ask the nurse where his room was. They sent me to the third floor so I rode the elevator up and found the waiting area.

I found our families all sitting in the waiting room so I walked over to them. "How is he?" I ask them.

"He had to go into surgery to repair some muscles and ligaments that were completely tore. He wouldn't have had any movement in his arm without the surgery so he was relentless about having it done." Sara told me.

"How long will it take? Was there any bad side affects that could go along with the surgery?" I spit out quickly.

"Relax for a bit Em. Colton is going to be perfectly fine. By tearing what he did, there would be no way for him to play football but with the surgery, it could still be a possibility once it's healed. Of course when he heard that he wanted the surgery. The only thing is that it may not fix his shoulder enough to be able to play again." My mom explains.
