My Savior

Chapter 36

"Em it's time to get up. You're going to be late to your own appointment." I heard Colton saying to me.

"I'm tired." I groan as he pulls my blankets off and forces me to get up.

"You can sleep later today, we have to leave soon to make it to the hospital in time." He tells me. I finally sit up and throw my legs over the bed. "Finallyyy." Colton says and I roll my eyes at him.

"You try growing a human in you. It makes you very tired." I say to him.

"I know it does Em. If it was any other day I'd let you sleep as long as you needed but todays when we find out if we're having a little boy or little girl. We can't miss out on that." He tells me and I can see happiness shining in his eyes.

"You're right. Can you get me a pair of leggings and one of your hoodies?" I ask him and he holds them both up in his hands. He knows me all too well. "Thanks Colton." I say and he nods. He goes to the bathroom while i get dressed. I ended up just throwing my hair up into a bun because I was too tired to do anything else with it.

We finally made it to the hospital and got checked in. It did not take them long to call my name and get back to a room. They made me get on the scales and i cringed at the number. I had already gained 15 pounds and I was only halfway through with this pregnancy.

"Welcome back Emory, its good to see you. Are you ready to find out the gender today?" The doctor asks as he walks in.

"More than ready." I say as I lean back on the bed. I raise my hoodie up and the doctor rubs the cold gel on my stomach. He moves the wand around until he finds where the baby is.

"There's the heart beat and the gender is in full display today. How would you like to find out? I can write it in an envelope or tell you right now." He says and I look to Colton who is still staring at the screen.

"Envelope?" I ask him and he nods. "We'd like it written down." I watch as he gets paper and writes on the inside of the envelope before handing it to us. We were having a big gender reveal with the families so we had to do it this way to be surprised.

We left the doctors office and before heading home I made Colton stop at Waffle House to get me a chocolate chip pancake since that's what the baby was craving today. After eating, we went back to the house anxious to find out what we were having. It would be a long two days of waiting.

Finally the day has come. After waiting a very long two days, it's the day of our gender reveal. I rolled over to look at the clock and realized I had slept until 11 o'clock. I went over to the window to see the backyard already mostly decorated which made sense since the party was starting at 1.

After going to the bathroom, I made my way down stairs. I heard a voice that sounded familiar and sped walk into the kitchen. "Aunt Lily! Uncle Drew! What are you guys doing here?" I said as I ran up to Lily to hug her.

"There's the little momma! We couldn't miss finding out what our great niece or nephew is." She said and pulled away so Drew could hug me.

"Colton had to run to his house to get more balloons and I think Sara is cooking omelets. She said to send you over if you wanted some when you woke up." My mom told me.

"Of course I want some." I say and then almost sprint over to their house. Kona almost knocks me over when I walk in their door but I kept upright, following my nose to the kitchen. "It smells so lovely."

"Colton said you'd been craving some so I decided to make it this morning. He's up in his room if you want to go up there while I fix yours. I'll call you down when it's ready." I nodded at her and went to Colton's room.
