Percy's POV

Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me
I said you're holding back
She said shut up and dance with me
This woman is my destiny
She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me

**

I sipped my punch awkwardly. How was I supposed to hold the glass? With my pinky up or some shit?

I sighed and put the glass down. The punch was probably spiked anyways. I wouldn't know- parties are not my scene.

Jason and Grover were out there on the dance floor, dancing with their dates, Piper and Juniper. Their smiles were so wide and their faces shone with sweat; I was happy for them, of course, but the moment was bittersweet.

Jason noticed me standing like a dud and motioned for me to come over. I shook my head with a small smile on my face and flicked my hand to gesture for him to focus on Piper. The look in his electric blue eyes asked, Are you sure bro? I nodded again and he shrugged, returning his attention to the beautiful brunette in front of him.

I was not letting my bro lose his chance with his dream girl today. Not on my watch.

I sighed again, looking around on the dance floor for a familiar face, and that's when I saw her.

We were victims of the night
The chemical, physical, kryptonite
Helpless to the bass and the fading light

Her eyes, gray and gorgeous as always, were sparkling in the light. Her blonde hair was curly and fell down past her chest and bounced up and down as she moved to the bass. It was pretty frizzy and poofy too, something she complained about often, but I loved it. I loved how unique and carefree it made her look. Who even has smooth, silky hair all the time? It made her look real, authentic.

Her face was flushed and pink. She was in a simple backless red dress that went down to her mid-thigh, yet she easily stood out in the crowd she danced with. Her shoes were sneakers, something I was not surprised about considering how much she prioritized comfort. The light faded, and she was glowing, dancing and moving like a princess. It was like there was a spotlight on her.

How could someone look so perfect when they danced?

That's when she made eye contact with me. Her gray eyes, usually calculating, were glittering and happy. Her face broke into a smile as she walked over to where I was standing. I probably shouldn't have moved towards her, but there was some external force pulling me towards her. I couldn't resist. The attraction I felt for her was stronger than a goddamn magnet; I was helpless in pulling myself away from the flawless girl coming to me.

Oh we were bound to get together
Bound to get together

I felt my face go red as she took a sip of my punch. "Hey Percy."

"Hey, Annabeth," I stated calmly, not trusting myself to say any other words without stuttering. Even saying her name had me giddy.

"I didn't know you'd be here tonight."

Yeah, I knew you were gonna be here- that's why I came. "Yeah, neither did I."
