The Difference Between You and Me (GXG)

dakota's p.o.v

"it is so nice to meet you." lucy shakes hunters hand and smiles, her arm still wrapping around my back.

"you too, i've heard such wonderful things about you." he says and glares at me. i turn red in embarrassment, seeing lucy look over at me.

"oh really?" she teases, kissing the side of my head gently. he nods, grabbing his girlfriends hand again.

"okay bitches, what are we waiting for?" kenzie asks almost startling me. we all laugh, agreeing.

we walk into the restaurant, hunter telling the worker that we made a reservation for four. we all thought it was be a great idea to go on a double date so that's what we are doing now. it's a friday night! after a great week. perfect for date night.

the four of us get seated. kenzie and hunter sitting across from lucy and i. kenzie is directly across from me as hunter is across lucy. we all start looking at the menu's silently.

"no way! i want the chicken alfredo!" kenzie raises her hand like an idiot, being loud. i shush her, laughing.

"you always eat that. you're so basic." i lean back and cross my arms, trying to give her a dirty look as a joke. her jaw drops and she turns the page of the menu.

"fine, give me a minute. i'm going to wow you." she sticks her tongue out at me and digs her head back into the menu. i look over a lucy, seeing her looking at me already.

"what do you want baby?" i ask getting closer to her. she smiles, pointing at this pasta dinner that seems very fancy. ive never had it, but it sounds delicious from the description.

"i want to try something new." she says cutely, putting the menu down on the table.

"it sounds good. great choice." i say glancing down at her lips. her cheeks turn pink as she nods. i lean in and kiss her lips, placing my hand on her thigh.

"you two are so cute." i hear a deeper voice say. we pull away and both look at hunter. he has a light smile on his face.

"why thank you." i say to him, noticing kenzie still has her face dug into that menu. hunter nods, going back to look at the menu himself. "kenzie don't kill yourself. if you want the chicken-"

"no, shush. one second." she puts her pointer finger up at me telling me to wait. i sigh, looking down to see im going to get a pasta dinner as well. with shrimp in it.

"what are you getting?" i hear beside me. i point at the dinner and lucy leans over to look at it. after a moment she nods, humming.

"sounds-"

"i got it! i'll get the bacon stuffed chicken because i'm still in the mood for chicken." she says smiling proudly and staring at me. i raise an eyebrow and she pouts, looking at lucy. "sorry for interrupting."

"don't worry. thatll be delicious i bet." lucy smiles widely at her and i can't help but stare at her. shes so sweet.

"how rude of you." hunter leans over teasingly at his girlfriend. kenzie hits him in the arm but can't help but smile. she covers her face with her hands as hunter laughs.

finally, someone comes over to take our drink order and we all decide to just put our food orders in too. turns out hunter got the same thing as kenzie. how cute.

as she walks away towards the kitchen, i notice someone who just walked into the restaurant. i see non other then molly walking in with some girl. i squint my eyes, watching as they get seated sort of close to us. she hasn't seen me yet.

"babe?" i hear beside me and i snap out of my thoughts. i turn to her and force a smile, hoping molly doesn't see us. i don't want to deal with her stares or words if she has any to speak.

"um yeah. i-i'm sorry." i shake my head, trying desperately to stop thinking about molly near us. not in THAT way. i just don't want to see her anymore than i need to in school.

"oh, you're looking at her." lucy's eyes meet at what i was staring at. i shake my head, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her closer to me.

"no. well yes but i just wish she wasn't here. i don't like her." i say honestly, making her mouth curve into a smile. i giggle, kissing her cheek. "i'll ignore her." i whisper before looking forward and relaxing.

hunter looks confused and kenzie looks annoyed as she looks back at molly and the girl. kenzie huffs, rolling her eyes. "of course she's here." then she laughs too.

"huh? who?" hunter asks looking around. kenzie taps his shoulder and grabs his attention.

"can't you see we don't like her. don't look at her, she's evil." she says louder than i expected. lucy and i break into laughter as hunter nods, looking back.

"that she is." i nod.

we continued to talk for a while, and eventually our food came. every once and a while i would look and see molly talking and smiling. i hope that girl means something to her because then maybe she can leave me alone.she notices me looking at one point and frowned. after that, i didn't look back at her. i enjoyed the time on my fun double date.

after we finished, long story short we all fought about the bill for ten minutes. finally. we all decided to split it into 4 so each person payed for themselves. i didn't want to die today by kenzie and/lucy. so i didn't mind just paying for myself.

"that was a blast!" kenzie says jumping up a down. then she leans over and gives hunter a kiss on the lips sweetly.

"of course it was. we are all too amazing." i say wrapping an arm around lucy. we all laugh, walking to our cars. lucy drove herself and i. and then hunter drove kenzie and him.

we say our goodbyes with some hugs exchanged. lucy gets in the driver seat of her car and i get in the passenger seat. i yawn, putting my seatbelt on.

"want to stay the night?" she asks cutely, batting her eyelashes at me. i nod, smiling at her. she starts driving to her house, and my eyes become closer to closing the closer we get to her house.

when we arrived, we went up to her room and changed into some comfortable clothes. i sat down on her bed and she took it upon herself to walk in front of me and straddle my waist, sitting on my lap. she wraps her arms around my waist and i stare at her in the dim light.

"gosh, i love you so much." i say, kissing her lips softly. she hums, rubbing the back of my neck gently.

"i love you, dakota." she smiles. "i have a quick question." she says which catches my attention more.

"what's that?" i ask, slipping my hands under her shirt and rubbing her bare skin.

"was there ever a big difference between you and me? like you thought?" she asks, looking curious but also serious. i think for a moment, my eyes traveling around her beautiful face.

"no." i shake my head lightly. "and even if there was, i couldn't be happier with anyone else." i tell her seriously, smiling cheekily. she giggles, yawning cutely.

"i'm glad, i couldn't either." i say to her, bringing her body close to mine and absorbing in this moment. this little moment i'll remember vividly for the rest of my life.
