a/n - i have this book already written ahead of time so i will be posting sort of frequently until the end (which is chapter 40), but not too frequently bc i edit some parts sometimes! but it'll still be like everyday hehe, enjoy!
dakota's p.o.vas for the next day at school, i didn't see a site of lucy all morning. she wasn't in the halls before first period. she wasn't even in first period. the next time i usually see her would be now, lunch. i'm walking to the cafeteria right now kenzie. i've really wondered about lucy today. was she staying. home? did she come in late?
"do you miss her today?" kenzie asks in the hallway. we are walking slow, taking our time.
"kind of." i say honestly. my best friend knows me better than anyone else. i couldn't lie. "i just hope she's okay." i give kenzie a weak smile.
"i wonder if she just came in late." she shrugs. "i guess we will find out right now."
as she says that, we both enter the cafeteria side by side. we both look around, and finally..my eyes land on lucy. she's sitting by herself but she's already looking at us. or rather, just me.
"yup, she came in late." kenzie says to me, also seeing her. i feel frozen in my spot as i watch her stand up, coming over to us. she's walking fast. really fast. "she's also coming over here..?" i hear kenzie talking but it's almost like it's just blurry. i'm just focused on the beautiful girl walking towards me. the look on her face makes me nervous.
as she gets closer, she doesn't slow down. "lucy-" i try to say she approaches me but my words are cut off by her slamming her lips into mine.
my eyes widen in shock as hers are closed. i hear some gasps coming from the room as well as whispering. i melt into the kiss, closing my eyes and kissing her back. am i dreaming? is she kissing me in front of the whole school right now?
i can feel my heart beating almost outside my chest as her lips move a little, not wanting to let go. finally she does but she keeps her face close to mine, opening her eyes. we are both breathing a little heavier. i'm totally frozen in shock. i can't move.
"dakota.." she says keeping her hands on my jaw. before she can finish, i hear kenzie start clapping beside us. lucy and i both look at her, and then i hear olivia in the background.
"woohoo!" she yells and starts clapping as well. as the two of them clap and cheer, the whole cafeteria starts taking over their actions. soon, our ears are filled with clapping and cheering.
lucy and i look back at each other and she smiles. "i really, really like you." she says. "i don't know why i didn't just say that before. i messed up and i'm so so sorry but i like you. too much."
my lips curve into a smile, my face turning a whole new shade of red. she giggles at me, moving a strand of hair from my face, behind my ear.
"next time.." i hear beside me and we both look at kenzie. "you should listen to me. i told you she wouldn't do that to hurt you and i knew she liked you. score bestie!!" she hits my shoulder and gives a smile to lucy.
she walks to our usual table next to olivia. i take lucy's hand and walk us over to the table as well, obviously having her sit with us. the room has died down now and everyone has gone back to what they were doing.
"well if it isn't the lovers." olivia says and smirks at us, winking. i can't help but laugh, still holding onto lucy's hand under the table.
i turn to her, giving her a cute smile. i lean in and peck her lips, gently pulling away. "i like you too. i always have." i tell her. she blushes, keeping thay small smile on her face.
